I think at the end of the day a lot of people forget that both parties are having a power struggle right now. The Democrats of course it's between the Moderate Blue Dog Democrats and the Socialists. For Republicans it's between Libertarian Conservatives and old school Conservatives.
My bet is it's the old school Conservatives that are so against it. Even though they're surrounded by it and they'll get all the negatives without any of the positives.

And loudest. You wouldn’t know there was a single Catholic here.

You need out of state funding to make it a net positive for your area. If not, you're just creating a tax of sorts on your own population. A casino in the NS is just going to be a vampire on the NS and surrounding areas and produce nothing net positive.
There’s casinos in Kenner, Baldwin, Amelia, Harvey, Marksville, Baton Rouge, Leesville, etc……they all seem to be doing just fine.

How is a parish wide vote on something that isn't here yet squashing anything?

The casinos are making money (although not as much as if they were drawing gamblers from outside the area.). The point SFP was correctly making is they are a net drain on the local economy. The communities, as a whole, would be better off without them.

They do not want the trash and other problems some casinos bring to the area.
Some casinos want to be good neighbors.
Other casinos do not care.
In a few years the building abandon and it brings down property values in an area on the lake.
Voting against this solves the problem.

All the casinos I listed have restaurants and hotels.

Casinos make a lot of sense for shithole cities.

Voting No. Slidell will never be a destination. Won't grow the pie which will be needed for success. In 5 years if it is built it will be "Blues" until 6 pm and " riffraff" the rest of the day.

Y’all are stupid…
The parish is overwhelmingly Catholic.
- 9.8% are Baptist
- 0.9% are Episcopalian
- 23.2% are Catholic
- 1.4% are Lutheran
- 6.4% are Methodist
- 3.5% are Pentecostal
- 0.4% are Presbyterian
- 0.7% are Church of Jesus Christ
- 4.8% are another Christian faith
- 0.1% are Judaism
- 0.0% are an eastern faith
- 0.1% affilitates with Islam
Compare that to EBR where the Baptist’s make up 20%.

Casinos bring crime, drugs , democrats, and gang activity to where they are located.

Lafayette parish screwed up voting them down a long time ago, now there’s one just across the parish line on every highway. Lafayette parish residents are still gambling but with no revenue to the parish.
Also lost Evangeline downs because of it.
