Why don’t they close the Port Allen Exit?

They could route that Brusly and local traffic over the old bridge or through Lobdell.
Why make all the through traffic and commuters wait in line for the Hwy. 1 Intercoastal Bridge frick up? If there is a line, let them line up on surface streets, no on I-10.

We need the traffic jams to help stop police pursuits.

Look, I hear what you’re saying but unfortunately the study on the effects of routing traffic off of I-10 and onto surface streets would take far too long to complete and at an exorbitant price.

What are all the people going from LP, AP, and BR?

frick this. I work in Brusly (which makes me a commuter) and doing that would make my wait three times as long. They need to fix that damn Intracoastal bridge immediately. I don't even know if the bridge being hit by the dump truck is the problem because it seems like they have one lane closed to do the repairs that have long been planned. Why are they able to do the steel plates Northbound but Southbound has to be closed completely? Going over that bridge slowly is scary. It is really tilted at an odd angle until you get up on top.

They are using the unfortunate mishap of the dump truck incident to expedite the scheduled repairs southbound. They're taking advantage of having to completely close one of the lanes at all times, which is why there is that odd lane switch now that they are done with the junction repairs, but still have to contend with the dump truck damage.
If you haven't noticed, since the dump truck hit, they haven't done much with the movement/placement of the steel plates northbound. It's been those small, center-line plates since then.

Close the new bridge completely and make everyone use the old bridge. Problem solved.

I would pay good money to watch that.

What they should do is close the southbound exit at LA 1 from the bridge and detour that traffic down to LA 415. Have that traffic turn around at that interchange and then head back to LA 1 south from the western approach. Yes, it would still suck for the people going that way. But at least it would keep the queue between LA 1 & LA 415, and not throttle the entire city of BR behind it.

What we need is a traffic board

Also, the mouth-breathing dipshit that hit the bridge should have to sit in the traffic that he caused the entire time that is congested. Get to the end of it, turn around and get back in line, and repeat that all day long. Stupid motherfricker. How in the hell do you drive a dump truck with the bed up??

Maybe they can create a lane just for you.

Why not replace them both with a ferry?

quote:But it would be so, so much worse. You're talking about diverting traffic from an exit that has no stops (typically) to one that has a stop sign immediately. I don't think you understand how many cars need to go that way.

i actually had this same thought last night

quote:Actually, I do. I generated a visual model of the LA 1/415 connector in 2006. It was based on 2020 projected volumes.

ETA: This would only be while the bridge is being repaired.

quote:So what's the daily traffic volume that takes the plaq/port allen exit? And what's the capacity of the 415 exit with stop sign?
Actually, I do
Should be pretty simple to estimate how long the queue would back up with those numbers, right?
