If you haven't noticed, since the dump truck hit, they haven't done much with the movement/placement of the steel plates northbound. It's been those small, center-line plates since then.

They had full plates in the right lane for 2-3 days since the accident but mostly it has only been center plates.

So what's the daily traffic volume that takes the plaq/port allen exit? And what's the capacity of the 415 exit with stop sign?

Should be pretty simple to estimate how long the queue would back up with those numbers, right?

I got out of traffic engineering entirely, but the objective isn't to provide an acceptable level of service for that interchange. No, it would suck for LA 1 SB traffic, just as it sucks now. The point would strictly be to move the queue further away from BR. Yes, "kicking the can down the road", further away from a metropolitan area. But no sense in losing sleep over it; it isn't going to happen.

Build another bridge and a loop.

We all know the answer.

It will just never happen.

How long does it take from Bluebonnet, across the Sunshine Bridge and up to Addis ? Compared to using the new bridge now ? Say around 4 pm. I’m seriously tempted to do that.

Or would it be better to take the Old Bridge ?

How much time you got? That's how long it will take you. When I was working in Port Allen and both bridges in BR were closed, I opted to go the long way down to Donaldsonville and back up to get home to BR. I left work at like 5:00pm. I think it was past 11:00pm before I got home.

This could be slightly better if you can get to the Old bridge without using I-10 at all, but the savings would likely be minimum since you can't get around the fact that LA-1 south is 1 lane.

Pimp I tried from Plaquemine to Sunshine to Prairieville near the fairgrounds and it was roughly 1:15 minutes. I am sure it’s highly dependent on the time of day though.

The sunshine bridge is farther than you think. I work in Port Allen and one time I left work around noon on a Friday. I decided to take the Sunshine bridge since I left early and nearly added a couple hours to my commute

It takes about 20-30 minutes to get from Bluebonnet to the Sunshine Bridge, then another 45 minutes from there to get to Addis.

What needs to happen will not provide immediate relief. There needs to be an LA1-415 connector built. The fact that there isn't one already is beyond all logic and pure insanity. Once that connector is in place, new Intracoastal Canal bridges need to be built. Nothing meaningful can be done until that LA1-415 connector is finished. New Intracoastal bridges cannot be constructed unless there is a viable alternate route. The Grosse Tete route and the Sunshine bridge route are NOT reasonable alternate routes for those on the south of the Intracoastal.

No new taxes should be levied for for this. Politicians need to stop squandering public funds, this is something that tax dollars are meant for. IMHO, any politician who has any influence whatsoever over traffic infrastructure in the Greater Baton Rouge Area, more specifically in the western areas, from the local municipalities all the way up to the governor should consider themselves accountable and be advised that come election time for their position it will be much more difficult to secure for themselves if the necessary changes are not underway. People are absolutely fed up with this ridiculous situation.

Google says it could be 1:05 to 1:15 if you left at 4.

Google says it takes 36 minutes to get to Addis from the Mall of LA if you left right now, using I-10 and LA1.

Why cannot the cops parked there with their lights on get out and direct the traffic? They are completely useless just sitting in their cars with their lights on. In fact, I think it makes it worse. They could be out there directing the merge shiteshow.

LOL. Yesterday around 4:00 it took me 36 minutes to get from Bluebonnet to the split where I gave up and looped back on I-12 to Airline. And this was After the wreck at Acadian had been completely cleared. At 7:00 pm as I drove the other way it was 2 mph gridlock from the bridge to Essen. It's routinely taking people over two hours to go from Siegen to Port Allen .
