Just to be clear, the husband of the woman who was killed, killed himself?

If he was the one who did kill her, it probably ate at him, but I am not sure how you watch another man go to prison for your crime. You ruin two lives for your own arse, that probably doesn't just go away.

Yes.

I mean, it makes no sense. Why would a man with a baby on the way and a new wife just randomly up and murder some lady for no reason?

Appeals are a waste of time and money.

Tell that to the men who were wrongfully convicted and later exonerated.

Maybe they aren’t smart enough to know their life is over?

I’ve wondered about this. Like with R Kelly. Guy lived as a rich celebrity for most of his adulthood and is now sitting in a federal penitentiary until he’s an elderly geezer.

Why would anyone go along with that? I figure he’d try to off himself at some point.

Did you know?

Black men survive longer in prison than out: study
Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Black men are half as likely to die at any given time if they're in prison than if they aren't, suggests a new study of North Carolina inmates.

The black prisoners seemed to be especially protected against alcohol- and drug-related deaths, as well as lethal accidents and certain chronic diseases.

But that pattern didn't hold for white men, who on the whole were slightly more likely to die in prison than outside, according to findings published in Annals of Epidemiology.

Why do people who aren’t sentenced to life in prison kill themselves?

Because people are stupid and do stupid things all the time.

There should be no such thing as a life sentence. If you’ve done something heinous enough to warrant spending the rest of your life in prison, then instead of being a burden to taxpayers for the next however many years, you should be put down.

I know a guy serving 20 years for kiddie porn. I think that’s flat time. I think suicide would be preferable esp since he’ll have to be a registered sex offender upon release. Life imprisonment is definitely suicide-worthy.

The possibly 4% of ones given a life sentence??

Compare the money spent on the other 96-98% that died or will die in prison then we can discuss.

Criminals, in many respects run the joint. They control the narcotics, the scheming, extortion, weapons, floggings, murders rapes, and some of the guards. Death Row is a badge of honor in there.

They take proactive measures to avert that exact thing. Believe it or not those prisoners have family members with standing to file a lawsuit over it, whether it ultimately be successful or not, and they certainly do so.

I doubt it is a religious reason. Who wants to go through the Hell of prison for the rest of your natural life when you could just end the suffering and be done with it?

It’s because prison isn’t the hell you chickenshits think it is.

Let's say someone went to jail at 21 in 1985, 40 years later they are 61. The world they were in before going to jail and the world they would be going into has probably evolved faster than 40 years within any other time in history. They might want to kill themselves when they get out.

I don’t think you can compare a fictional literary work turned movie to real life baw.

It’s not easy to kill your yourself in prison. If they had an access to rope and a private place, I imagine a lot more would do it. If they think it’s a risk, they take preventative measure like access to certain things.

If you figure out a way to kill your self quietly with a toothbrush and a bar of soap, you could earn a lot of Raman noodle soups.
