Why do southerners drink it?

It certainly adds to obesity and diabetes rates, which are astronomically higher in the south than northerners.

Purpose of Yankees is to continually reinforce the privileges Southerners enjoy.

We don't want that diabeetus.

If you want some sweet, get the Snapple diet half and half.

I am a sweet tea fan, but whatever most places have started to use as sugar substitutes to lower the calorie count makes it disgusting.

That why at most places I will just opt for an Arnold Palmer. 50 percent nasty tea mixed with a sweet lemonade that is usually high in HFC like Minutemaid.

Years ago I was at a Cock of the Walk and some folks from Michigan came in and sat down at the next table.

When they brought that pan of cornbread out and flipped it, the Michigan folks got excited, they'd never seen cornbread.

Then comes the pot of greens. When I loaded my plate with the greens, one of the Michigan guys leaned over and asked what on earth "that" was and I explained it to him. He was mesmerized by someone eating such a thing.

The further north one goes, even into the states along the Mason-Dixon line, the food gets worse.

Same reason they don't eat greens apparently is the same reason they don't like sweet tea. They have no clue what good sweet tea is.

Because it’s sickly sweet and sugar is not good for you.

It just wasn’t something we grew up drinking, so it tastes weird. I like it fine now, but it took a long time to get used to.

On the flip side, I love unsweetened iced tea, and southerners typically don’t.

My parents switched to unsweetened when i was born cause my dad was getting fat. I only enjoy sweet tea on a very rare occasion and it’s needs to be some damn good tea, not the gallon jug special
