I'm just surprised to not see the Corpus metro area dark red

Corpus was considered the fattest city in America a few years ago

Why does that map have one range 15% apart and the rest are like 2% apart? That's kind of stupid. Big difference between 11% and 26%

They don’t drink it on the west coast either. They also prefer english muffins over biscuits.

Such a dumb reason to not drink it. Having a glass a day isn't going to give you diabetes

It is nasty but then again I hate any drink that has sugar in it(minus some fruit juices)

Funny how Louisiana is so high on the obesity rankings despite having so many gyms, running clubs and crossfit boxes.

When they brought that pan of cornbread out and flipped it, the Michigan folks got excited, they'd never seen cornbread.

Then comes the pot of greens. When I loaded my plate with the greens, one of the Michigan guys leaned over and asked what on earth "that" was and I explained it to him. He was mesmerized by someone eating such a thing.

This is nuts. People eat corn bread & greens in Michigan. You met some dumbasses. Were their faces painted like juggalos?

I'll make it at home sometimes, but I prefer a lightly sweetened tea. The sweet tea I find out at restaurants is like sugar water. Makes you understand why type 2 diabetes is highest in all the Southern states (and West Virginia).

Dude, how do you eat red beans & rice? Or your black eyed peas? or chicken & dumplings? or snap peas? or almost any cooked legume or leafy vegetable?

Mark Twain said it best, "there are lies, damn lies, and, statistics."

The reason for the disparity in the categories is the result of either, a need to have more categories, or an agenda to drive some sort of legislative or executive regulation of something or other.

Just taking in sugar doesn't give one the diabeetus all by itself. That's ignorant. Diabetes mellitus is genetic, and those with predispositions will eventually get it, no matter how hard they try not to.

I stopped drinking sweet tea and sugar soda decades ago. Candy bar once every blue moon. Went to the doc. last year turning 50, and I'm fine. Then he gets my A1C at almost 12. WTF???? Get over this dumb line...."they don't want the diabeetus...." because that's not how it works.

Secondly, there are just as many stupid people up north as there are down here. Stupid isn't a location.

As a transplant, these are things I was not really familiar with when I moved south:

Sweet tea: WAAAAAYYYY too sweet. Good god.

Boiled peanuts: gross

Pimento cheese: F’n awesome

Grits: nothing to really dislike, only issue is that they often aren’t really very flavorful

Okra: good fried, but so is basically everything

Things like cornbread, biscuits, greens, fried chicken (though I miss broasted chicken- less greasy), we had plenty up north.

Cause they smart? Sweet tea is disgusting.

Now I’ll have a proper cuppa with a splash of milk from time to time, or the occasional iced tea (plain), but never sweet tea.
