Has anyone ever sat you down and explained how the seasons work?

Probably because it's dead middle of winter.

Like I didn’t expect so much brown dead trees lol
The same reason South Carolina does.

What do you think the trees look like under snow? We just dont have the snow.

Plants and trees go dormant this time of year. Perhaps you’ve not experienced winter before.

This is not “dead-winter look”; there’s still plenty of green and blooms. Dead winter is when you look at your pictures & ask yourself why you took them in black & white-and then realize you didn’t.

Ida has it looking worse this year than normal. We’re still pulling trees out of the woods from areas where we probably lost a good 35% of the standing hardwood. It’s not that bad everywhere, and the pine thickets fared just fine. But, between the storm and this being about the deadest part of Louisiana’s winter, I’m seeing way too many glimpses of light from my neighbors. Still have a mile between us, but I like to pretend neighbors don’t exist.

Because it is dead winter? Despite what the rest of the country thinks, It does get cold here.

I assumed the answer was obvious...
It reflects our new, dead soul here.

I’m shocked lot of posters have never left southern Louisiana before. Compared to areas of similar latitude, Southern Louisiana is extraordinarily brown in the winter? Why is this?
Posted on 1/20/22 at 12:18 pm to Palmetto98
You must not get out much either.
Charleston, southern most area of South Carolina with a similar latitude as parts of Louisiana, looks pretty dead as well.
