They pulled that same bait and switch bullshite along I-12 in Covington. There were going to be high end stores, a plaza area with small concerts on weekend nights, etc. They finally got approval and now it's fricking Kohl's , Hobby Lobby, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden and other low rent bullshite.

You got one thing right Funk. I don't live in LP. But with the exception of a few years living in the Rocky Mountains, I've got 50 in EBR Parish and I do a bunch of work in all surrounding parishes and have since the 70's. I don't need a clue. I'm well aware. You have a bunch of gravel roads being paved, some asphalt and some intersection work. Resurfacing just keeps the wheels from falling off but it doesn't move you through that light any faster.
And I'll tell you just how Livingston Parish ended up getting the FEDERAL government to pony up the Juban Road interchange money with LP requiring a partial match. It was because Richard Baker who was at the time my EBR Congressman, fought to get the federal funding for Pecue Lane interchange in EBR Parish and our genius mayor at the time Bobby "asleep at the wheel" Simpson would not put up the match. Instead of losing the money he sought out and found a place to put it. So you have our douchebag ex mayor to thank for that.

Between Rouses and the new Wal-Mart Marketplace now and Sams a few years ago, I stay right around my house and I don't have to go to the big Wal-Mart again. It really is much nicer to have these things close. Old Navy is nice to have right there too, and since we had a bunch of kids' birthdays in a row, the cookie company cakes were a breeze to get to also.

You have one blurb about our interchange at Juban but you know nothing of how it was on the books for DECADES at DOTD while schisters and johns like Charlie Dewitt moved our priority below traffic effing circles in LeCompte Louisiana.
Again, you know enough to think you know a thing or two. Unfortunately to someone who does know about the subject matter at hand, you come off looking ignorant, with all due respect.
You may want to stop posting when it's about a subject you aren't well versed in. Not a good look.

The original plan was taken out when Jindal nixed the bill that was passed for the project.

Well you were right in that I don't live in Livingston Parish. But your "road tax" you refer to is a road maintenance tax. As I said, it is a pothole tax. My point, which was not to be of offense to a smart man like you, was meant to mean a road "building" tax or take the millage you are now paying in property tax, I'm guessing around 5 mils, that is dedicated to "road maintenance" or "asphalting Mr. G Funks driveway." (since you seem to be well versed=dragging on the government tit) and selling bonds on the dollar amount to actually BUILD roads in lieu of "resurfacing."

I'm sure it has been around for quite awhile as has Pecue Lane as well as Pete's Highway and Bluff Road however the initial funding was dedicated to Pecue and as stated BR mayor would not fund the match therefore Juban received it. I'm actually surprised there's a Panera at the one in Slidell. That place gets a movie theater and it will be around for a while.

My point was that we were on a priority list that was manipulated by politicians at the Capital. Had we gotten that when we were supposed to have, the improvements to it may have already been done as the population, traffic studies and demographic work may have already shown the area was mature enough on all those fronts to warrant the work being done.
I'm not sure where you come off here. You said we didn't have a road tax. I pointed out we did, and that you were wrong. You responded by clarifying and splitting hairs so you could feel better about yourself. Whatever floats your boat.
The discussion and illumination regarding how long it took us to get a simple interstate exit was because you showed a lack of understanding as to how long we had it on the books and how many times politicians manipulated their own interests above the public good. It was obvious when you were trying to say Richard Baker got it for us and then the mayor of BR screwed it up. Not accurate in the least.
So somehow after you've been corrected twice in this discussion, you're telling me I'm an ignorant smartass when all I've done is clued you in and given you some solid advice...which is to not speak when you don't know what you're talking about.

You realize how Long Willow Grove and Rouzan have been in development? WG is FINALLY getting the dining/retail that was a huge selling point for the whole 'neighborhood feel'. Post office, drug stores, etc were all drawn into the 'feel good' blueprint at the beginning.
Perkins Rowe did it a little different. Build everything but use 2/3 of it.

Well considering that Arlington alone has the population of BR, and 15 miles to the west is a city the size of Nola/15 miles to the east you have motherfricking Dallas, I'd guess not.

Just passed by again. It looks deplorable in relation to its original draft. Nothing flows and it looks like a commonplace shopping center.
