re: why does EVERY FREAKING tv show have inter-racial marriage, or homosexuality?

the black-white character relationships just aren't common enough to justify the level of bitching on the OT.
all it takes is 1 3-sec clip on a commercial and these dudes lose their goddamn minds

Friends or Seinfeld couldn't even exist now on NBC. It isn't that people disagree with Gay Marriage or Interracial Marriage or Minority Representation. This is a part of many of our lives. It just feels so forced and out of place most times. There is a reason "token black guy" exists.
Now there is token everything Progressive.

Why do you want to piss gay people off? In what way is that satisfying for you?
I love seeing Progressives melt. Trump has provided so many glorious moments.

I suppose this is true. I mean there is HLN out there as well, but I was thinking there were a lot more cable news outlets.

Listen, I think it's lame as hell when some character from 30 books who is lily-white and straight is turned black or gay
But the reality is that TV networks are trying to sell shite to a wide variety of people who now want TV to connect to them.
There is plenty of heavy handed stuff out there, but amazingly it's somehow overstated on this board so much that the underlying arguments are weakened. People whine about justifying some interracial relationship on a show to their kids? WTF?

It is indeed a strange social/media phenomena.
Interracial marriages for instance make up only 10% of all marriages and that includes all races, not just black and white.
Gays make up maybe 2.5% of the population and trannies are so small in number, they're statistically insignificant.
To watch movies and tv shows however, you would think these 3 groups together make up half the population.
There's a reason for this media fabrication, I just don't know what it is.

No one who's being honest claims they see the same percentage of it in society as then do in today's commercials.

Perhaps you are just watching the wrong channel(s). My channel(s) don't have commercials.

i mean seriously. i get it. the world has changed. i am not homophobic, not a racist...and not even 1000 downvotes can make it so. i just dont want this shoved down my throat hour after hour. i CANNOT be the only one ticked off by this???
In what universe are interracial marriage and homosexuality in the same category? I understand why people get upset about homosexuality. The Bible calls it a sin. But interracial marriage? Is there some passage in the Bible prohibiting interracial marriage that I'm not aware of?

One of my favorite movies has a guy in love with a green woman.

I don't think this is true anymore. We watched Disney critically injure their giant investment in Star Wars. We watch CNN get gawd awful ratings and yet still keep going. Same for much of MSNBC.
Compared to what? Network stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox) will have higher ratings than cable channels because more people have access to just the network stations.
Then when you look at cable ratings, its by category. You have news stations, sports, reality tv, etc. While their ratings might not be even close to the network station ratings, they still remain competitive in their category.
Its a business. They create content for people to view, the more people who watch it the more appealing those shows become to advertisers.
As a whole CNN might not have the highest ratings, but what about when it comes to some of the content they air? Like the show with Lisa Ling or the shows about different decades?

17% of all new marriages are interracial. Seems pretty normal to me.

WTF are yall watching
Gays are more prominent in cities, or at least their presence is "felt" more here. It's not really that shocking that TV networks simulate or appeal to that audience rather than the semi-rural south where perhaps you can go a week without talking to a gay person.
As for trans people, the only arguably trans character I've seen is Billions, so I have no idea what the complaint is there.
