Why do we need to have "trendy" ways to mark the bathrooms in a restaurant?

The place I was at for lunch marked the men's and women's bathrooms with nothing but the art on the doors. I was 95% sure I was going in the right one but why can't these hipsters just mark the damn bathrooms with "men" or "women?"
I don't want to get cancelled, or worse yet, have to identify as a tranny because you thought it'd be sweet to mark your bathrooms with some awful graffiti that makes no sense.

A Houma restraunt has a sign that says Inboards and Outboards to signify the ladies room and the men's room. Take a guess as to which one was for what gender. At that restraunt it really didn't matter if you were confused since it was a single room bathroom that you would lock the door behind you.
