Are you hanging out at Whole Foods all day to hear the word "almond" pronounced more than the one time per year in New Orleans?

I can’t believe how some people just like to shite all over other people’s accents. It’s not like some can help it. You grow up saying something one way, you have no way of knowing any better.

Transplants to Houston have a lot of fun with me switching in and out of accents, which I don't really do on purpose. Somehow I get accused of being from New York at times when I sound a little bit more like my dad from South Louisiana, instead of my normal SE Texas redneck voice.

It used to not be like that. My family from New Orleans doesn't speak like that.

But yeah almonds and salmon get the Al bundy treatment from the yats.

Some people just love to play it up for out of towners, so you get exaggerations of the old accent. Which, as you said, not everyone in N.O. really sounds like.

I always laugh when I hear a New Orleanian pronounce “John” as “Jawn.”

I struggle with that word because I want to pronounce it as “salmon” is pronounced. I know it’s wrong, too.
