Why do people get offended by the phrase "Happy Holidays"?

I've seen a lot of people get triggered by this phrase as if it's some kind of anti religious sentiment. The word holidays literally means "holy days". It's simply a way to be inclusive of all the religions who celebrate this time of year.
I guess some people just love to think they're being persecuted though

Simply put, because today and tomorrow, it’s fricking Christmas.
Show some respect

Because there are people in this world looking for a reason to be offended. And that goes for both ends of the political spectrum.

And last week was Hanukkah. But I’m sure during that period you told people “Happy Hannukah” because you wanted to show respect.

It's Christ's birthday. Without that fact, tomorrow is just another fricking Monday. Celebrate Christmas or don't celebrate at all. No one cares about your made up holiday celebration that happens to take place on Christmas day

Why do you get offended by them getting offended over it?

Who gives a shite about the rest of the world? I'm not even a Christian and it's Merry Christmas to me soy boy.

No, it’s still Christmas, whether you observe or not.
I tell my Jewish Friend Happy Hannukah on Hannukah.
Drop the PC bullshite for a day or two and embrace the holiday.
White Wine in the Sun
Sums up a lot of my feelings

It’s been shown beyond all reasonable doubt that Jesus was born closer to Easter than Christmas. As long as we want to talk about facts.

Basically we have a real holiday based off of historical events and liberals made it illegal to say the words "Merry Christmas" and then they forced us to lump our real holiday in with made up holidays like Kwanzaa and hanaka
Luckily now that we have a president that walks with Christ it's once again legal to openly practice Christianity in America

Who gives a shite about the rest of the world? Without Christians they'd still be living in tepees

Because so many Christians' favorite pastime is persecuting themselves.

If I’m not sure- always happy holidays
If I’m absolutely certain - probably still a 50-50 split outside of specific Christmas events, as I’m usually rolling in at least New Years if not thanksgiving into the wider holiday season. With everyone celebrating 3 in about 5 weeks it’s just easy to give the blanket best wishes to folks I might not see that often
