There are other ways to admit to being lazy and jealous of others with active hobbies. Also, mind your own fricking business with what people choose to do with their bodies. Some of you are pretty damn hypocritical screaming about freedom but then you wanna judge others for their choices.
Do you shave your pussy to improve aerodynamics?

that's like asking why a football player wears pads because they're ugly to you.
it's riding gear.
it's riding gear.

Do you wear full pads to play football in the back yard?

bad analogy.
if you are on the road for 10-30 miles per ride, you will want the proper clothes to not be miserable.
you can't very well wear blue jeans or cotton shorts.

You’re the one the brought up protective gear for football.
A much better analogy would be hiking boots versus sperries on the Appalachian trail

football / riding are sports. hiking isn't, but your point about sperrys vs real hiking boots does track. you could not hike the AT in sperrys. lol.

Most everything is about function.
The chamois is for padding and they are actually pretty complex on good shorts. Most serious cyclists wear bibs that have suspenders instead of waist elastic. They are form-fitting because extra fabric chafes and causes hot spots. Aerodynamics are really not that big of a deal although tighter jerseys have been the tren over the last decade or so. Most of the time you don't wear a one-piece "skin suit" which is really where the aero advantage comes in, they are usually reserved for time trials not training or group racing.
The jerseys usually have a full length zipper in the front so you can open it when you need more ventilation. The fabrics are much more complex and specific than a dri-fit shirt and allow the proper amount of ventilation while still protecting you from the sun. They will usually have three pockets on the back to keep food and other essentials in.
The gloves are specific as well providing proper padding and protecting your palms in the case you go down.
Most every piece of a cyclist's kit from the shoes to the helmet is a specific piece of equipment designed for a single purpose. Colors in general tend to be bright for visibility. Spending hours on that bike at a time comfort is a major concern and cyclists pay good money for that comfort. It isn't uncommon that shoes, socks, bibs, jersey, gloves and helmet run $800 plus.

I basically never wear a two piece kit anymore. I exclusively wear a race suit these days when it is warm enough. Lot of guys I ride with are going this way as well

If it made them look any gayer, it would come with a gay guy to sit on their head making siren noises as they ride.

Except when the cyclist’s body collides into my vehicle bc he/she decided not to follow traffic rules

It makes me sick if I think about how much money I have invested in this. One set of bibs, helmet, shoes, jersey 1,000 dollars. What I have in my road bike alone is nothing compared to some, but It's at least 5,000

This stuff looks horrible. Is it supposed to provide a benefit to people who ride bikes or do they just think it looks cool?
It’s absolutely awful. It’s almost as bad as people who wear tennis shoes or crocs with their suits.
The particular kit you posted is also a triathlon kit. It's specifically made to go from swim to bike to run without changing clothes. The look is 100% driven by functionality over looks.
Tell me you know nothing about cycling or triathlon without telling me you know nothing about cycling or triathlon.
