Absolutely. Had some Bulgarian J-1 workers a few years ago and they made more here working 3 months out of the year than their parents did in Bulgaria.

I wonder if there is a connection? As in, we have it so good, that there are more things that being without can cause depression. I know that wouldn't be the main cause of depression, but we do have certain expectations that are not always likely.

I certainly think there is a connection. I mean look at the current SJW/PC culture. We have it so good in this country people can take the time to get worked up over something minor as an old yearbook picture, statues, or "cultural appropriation." This type of piddly shite doesn't exist in most of the world. They're too busy trying to eat and put a roof over their head. It's hard to be depressed when you're too worried about where your next meal is coming from.

The wife and I cruise every year. All of the so-called exploited third world workers on the cruise ships that we have talked to have been grateful for the opportunity to support their families back home, wherever that may be. It's white guilt, "look at me, I'm so woke" nonsense to cry about stuff like this.

Was in Galveston a few years ago for a charter. Hit Walmart to stock up on beer and food and the place is full of Eastern Europeans. Finally dawned on us there were two boats in town. The look on these peoples faces walking around was like total shock. Never seen anything like it.
