I find it so pitiful when things like this actually upset people.
You must not have real things to worry about in life.
You just described the entire SJW movement and the resultant backlash.
We live in the safest, wealthiest, most productive civilization in the history of the species. You have to live an incredibly pampered life to worry about shite like "cultural appropriation" or "trans-rights" or get outraged by the people pushing the nonsense.
You think your average baw in rural India or China gives a flying frick about any of it? Hell no. He's too busy finding enough food to eat for him and his family. I don't see any SJW nonsense coming out of Venezuela right now either.

beacuse while half may be conservatives, only a fraction of a percent give a frick what their commericials look like.

If a company's dumb, liberal POV offends you, move on to the next company... Don't stoop to their level

Because they suck at real persuasion, so they insult instead to get your attention. Gillette is a supporter of mental disease.

But they’re not pissing off a large part of their base because the vast majority of people don’t care enough to boycott.

Because of consumer life span.
The pissed off 65 year old will buy razors for ten more years.
The enlightened millennial who know has a good association with Gillette, will be buying them for fifty years.
Which share of that market do you want?

Reasonable people don't boycott, only snowflakes

Its the Kaepernick test. Your ability to say stupid shite must be outweighed by the value of your product.

So why cater to only 50% of the population?
Because only 50% of the population is their target audience - men

If you have a problem with the Gillette commercial, you have many more problems internally.

When I need to buy an item, I don't go and check and see what political leanings are mentioned in their commercials. I just go buy the damn item.
The vast majority of people feel the same way.
I'm glad Kapernick isn't playing in the NFL. Yet when I get home tonight and change to go to the gym, I'll put on my Nike shoes.

The NFL decided to allow players to not stand for the National Anthem.
And after a year, no one gives AF. Ratings are fine.

Dicks decided to stop selling firearms.
Which means they are no longer selling firearms, so their sales are going to be down, cause you know, fewer items being sold.

Target decided to allow men to use women’s restroom.
Every time I go to Target, lines are in the stores and they seem to be doing fine.

Because if they are controversial they get more publicity. Any publicity is good publicity.

That wasn't a business decision.

Dick's Sporting Goods admits suffering gun policy backlash as sales slide
I'm not really sure if this is a great example, since it's not directly tied to pissed off consumers, but sure, overhauling their gun policies have hurt.
So one out of 3. Now can we do the numerous examples where there was no material impact despite the outrage?

"Organization most people have never heard of announces boycott, reports on self claiming full responsibility for temporary downturn in target company stock price"
Taking credit for something they realistically had no effect on...right out of the Trump handbook.
I'm not even sure what commercial we're talking about here, but some of you are so soft. You get triggered by everything that doesn't support whatever fricked up ideals you may have

Businesses favor the larger markets.
