Why do businesses intentionally piss off half their consumer base?

For example Gillette with the new commercials. Do these people not the last election was roughly split 50/50? Half the voting US is not PC. So why cater to only 50% of the population?

Personally I voted for Trump, and I’m Christian. I’m also for gays getting married and if someone is transgendered it doesn’t bother me one bit. If your product is good I don’t care if the CEO makes a commercial calling me out personally as a POS, I’ll still buy the product..........Ok, if he actually made a commercial doing that I wouldn’t but you get the point. I don’t do boycotts.

People get into a position of power and think they need to project that crap to stand out. Do a good service, produce a good product, and do so at a fair price. Maybe make a funny commercial. That's all you need

The reason you can not comprehend why companies behave as such is that while the decision makers are progressives, you are not. Therein lies the problem. I’ll explain.
You see, while a regular adult in the business world such as yourself uses logic in making business decisions, progressives in the business world do not. Instead progressives, lacking the ability to comprehend logic, rely on emotion. This leads them to make idiotic business decisions like alienating half their customer base in favor of what emotionally seems like the “right thing to do”.
