That’s surprising. What businesses did you go to?
The stores were all hobby related, cycling, woodworking and watches.
In Houston it was Rockler, Woodcraft, Swiss Watch Company, Hal Martin's, the Omega Boutique, Blue Line Bikes, The Urban Bike Gallery, and Planetary Bikes. The hotel was Hotel Derek.

As someone linked in another thread, over 99% of businesses in Houston have no mandate.
I have a hard time believing it is over 99% and I just picked 9 businesses out of the hat that were all the expectation to the rule.

Did you find anything? because everything is not in stock and they don't know when they will be getting shipments.

I have noticed a significant drop in mask usage in and around Birmingham the last week or two. I guess people are just getting a little head start since ours will expire soon (though the city will probably implement one).

I really wasn't looking to buy anything though I bought a couple of jerseys and a pair of pedals. The stock issues are mainly in the low to lower mid-range bikes. I haven't seen many stocking issues with the higher-end bikes (say $6K+) even during last summer. The under $2k market is still pretty picked clean. I think it was Urban Bike Lab that had a huge selection of gravel bikes, the most I had ever seen in one place.

Must be the same young people who tell us they don’t want the vaccine bc they heard it’s killing more people than the virus.

Because people can make choices which is what you should want. The whole debate was government too much control. People are free to make whichever choice they want which includes to wear a mask or not.

I had meetings in Houston the week before and yep, about 50/50 wearing masks, none of those who I met with though, including a late 80's year old longtime personal friend who flew to New Orleans for a week when NOLA was the hotspot for the nation. He wanted to eat good food. BTW, he owns oil wells globally. He plays like he is senile if anyone asks about his mask and just walks right by them.

People are still wearing masks in open states because it gives them a sense of security. It's a mental/comfort mechanism more than anything. 2020 was traumatic, so it will still take a while for everyone to get comfortable again. Regardless of what you or I believe...there are still a lot of scared people out there that don't have a clue what is going on.
You just should be thankful that Americans are out of their homes expressing their freedom and spending money to get that Texas economy roaring again.
Don't be a homo and worry about what others are wearing.

Being upset that people are voluntarily wearing a mask is just as lame as being upset that people are not wearing a mask.
What happened to just minding your own business?

Who said I was upset? Why can no ask questions without being upset about something?

I see a lot of “sheep” references with regards to masks and hear that refrain from some of my friends.
Sheep would be storming the capitol and then getting arrested while worshipping a crooked New York reality star after consuming 4 years of fake conspiracy theories.
Using one calorie of energy to slap on a mask because a business owner requires it isn’t.

Why do people get so worked up if people want to wear a mask?
It’s like they’re breaking the law or something...

Masks are literally pointless I n environments where not everyone wears one.
People are already forgetting masks do not prevent you from contracting anything. It prevents you from theoretically spreading the virus.

Who said I was "worked up"? Why can't someone simply be curious?

Most people I believe fall into either of 3 categories imo.
Either they are an ardent believer that masks work. Those are the ones who will bitch about others who choose not to wear it.
Wear a mask simply because majority of businesses require it. They don't give a shite about if the maaks work or not, they are just trying to live their lives. They don't care enough to make a big deal or cause a scene over not wearing one. So they'll just put the thing on.
Or lastly, those who are ardent believers that masks don't work, and they will make it their point to make it known that the masks don't work and anyone who wears them are sheep.
A good majority of Americans fall into the middle category.

Finally starting to see some folks not wearing mask in Metairie over the past week. Mostly at gas stations though.
I had to chuckle last week while I was at Rouses. The cashier stopped ringing up groceries on the aisle next to me to go out and tell people they weren't spaced six feet apart in the check out line. I think one guy was about a foot to close to the lady in front of him.

I live in Texas and most people believe the governor should have left the mask mandate in place for a couple of more months...open everything up but keep the masks.
A lot of restaurants have limited seating because of staffing issues...until they put unemployment payments back to normal, the work force is just not there...too many people still riding the unemployment train.
