re: Why are the Toyota Tundra's sales numbers so terrible?

Yes then $45K it is. I did price a nice lariat which would have been about $42K but that would have put me at the price of the Toyota so I didn't want to do that, or I would have bought the Toyota.

I bought a 2016 February 20th of 2016. Why do you not think you can negotiate on a new truck?

You did not get 31% off a 2016 in early 2016. Post your purchase order.

When did trucks become luxury vehicles?

At least 2001 when GMC introduced the Sierra C3.

Very few people buy trucks for the original purpose of trucks. Most of those are fleet vehicles now. People buy trucks now as a SUV with a bed for the occasional washer/dryer or mulch need.

Probably had a couple thousand miles on it lnchbox. I am glad you called that other idiot out on the math. Now what do you drive? A prius correct? I have a way nicer ride, except for the whole gasoline part.

I dunno, I bought one last month so beats me. And I fricking love my truck

Terrible gas mileage and is a generation behind with engine.
2014 owner checking in. I can't dispute any of this and it also lacks the bells and whistles of the Ford and GMC (frick a Dodge). The only real reason I went Toyota is that I know that I can probably roll 200K on this truck well after it is paid off.

I do indeed use mine for "truck stuff" 2x's a month but the real reason I buy a truck is because I keep telling myself, "This is the year I buy a boat"
7 years so far and no damn boat

Chevy makes the best powertrains for gas trucks. I've seen too many 5.3s and 6.0s with more than 300k miles on them, running strong, to think otherwise.

I like them a lot. My main problem is that the steering wheel isn't centered on the driver's seat, it doesn't go low enough, and I can't move the actual seat around enough to get comfortable

I was going to buy a Ford and honestly like them better but the reliability of the Toyota was my deciding factor.

Same here, I really enjoy the ride and comfort features of the ford, but I couldn't get past the resale and reliability. I've owned ford and gmc trucks and they both gave me fits around 100k miles. I've own 2 Camrys that I put over 200k on that just required regular maintenance so I wanted to give the Tundra a shot.

I think their sales are terrible bc people realized that their 30 oz tumblers wont fit in the cup holders without tilting...that has to be it!

They did, however the new line with AFM is burning 1qt of oil every 2k miles as normal consumption. Thats a quart if it's working correctly before the recommended oil change. Because of that when something is off, which happens with the AFM, more 5.3Ls aren't sniffing 75k before they need internal work than what I would call reliable.
ETA: I had a '03 5.3L that got over 270k that I got with 19 miles on the ODO and had to only change routine wear items and never so much as had to change the valve cover gasket on it, so GMs issue with the 5.3L is very discouraging to me as a pretty big GM loyalist before I started researching the newer powertrains.

Yep, I probably would have bought the F150 if I had known this beforehand.

The 5.3L in the current trucks is a very different engine. I believe oil consumption was fixed.

The 30oz tumbler might fit OK, but a standard water or softdrink bottle doesn't sit in the cupholders on a F150, will flop and fall out. I put them in coozies to help them hold in place.

FWIW went I bought my FX4 back in 2014 the sticker was 54k and I paid 43,295 for it. Roughly 20% off.
