Why are the standards for women physical test in the military different from men’s

How did this ever become a thing? They reduce the physical requirements for female military members. I am all for women being in the military and hadn’t ever thought of it until a friend in the marines brought it up. He says because of their reduced physical test he has little faith in them on the battle field. For the sole reason he as 6’4” 210lb man doesn’t know if they would be able to carry/move him to safety if he was injured during battle. Now if they had they same test standards he would have 100% confidence in this but with their reduction in test requirements how could he ever be sure they could handle it. Who ever thought this was a good idea? People always say a chain is only as good as its weakest link.

Not a troll. This a serious concern for him and his marine buddies. They have voiced it several times. Their reality is possibly going into battle and getting wounded.

Well the Army is planning to move to a fitness test that has the same standards for all. It's called the Army Combat Fitness Test.

Because if women were held to the same physical standard as men then few, if any women could serve in the military.
That truth is politically inconvenient though. But it’s still true.

Well, until the ACFT, it was accepted based on scientific evidence that women, on average, lack about 50% of the upper-body strength and and about 30% of the lower-body strength of men. They also have lower cardiovascular capacity and are more prone to joint injuries and stress fractures.
The ACFT, which is a retarded idea on its own merits, does not distinguish gender or age but proxmity to combat arms MOS's in setting the minimal standards.

I saw it in the Coast Guard when a Chief Boatswain Mate was investigated because he wouldn’t sign off on a female’s qualification because she couldn’t’ throw the 40 lb anchor overboard. He was exonerated but it still negatively affected his career.

Women vastly underperform men in combat arms tasks. It’s everything from climbing obstacles, to accuracy with small arms, to manning a heavy weapon.
The most crippling issues aren’t strength and basic competence though.
It’s fraternization.
