Don’t be an addict, including gambling.
Don’t do anything illegal.
Take reasonably good care of your health.

And there’s a really good chance you won’t be poor.

It’s all good. I was sitting at work and just checking my investments and thought it would be nice to put in a ton at one time. Thus this thread was born.

There are always exceptions to this rule...I should know because I was very poor at one point in my life. Now, God has blessed me with a very comfortable life to where I don't have to worry about living from paycheck to paycheck.

Oh there are certainly people that are temporarily poor, or relatively poor.

I’m talking about the ones who will stay poor, even when they have money,

They will constantly have a net drain because either they aren’t smart enough to recognize the patterns or just don’t care.

People raised by poor people (yours truly) have to learn on their own everything there is to know about money. That can take a long time. I'm doing my part with my kid by teaching him all the stuff no one ever taught me about basics like interest rates, credit ratings, scams, and the like. Literally no one ever told me a single thing about any of this.

It’s more than that
How many kids don’t make it all the way through high school?
What’s the point when you can live off others?
We have made it way too easy to be “poor” when the majority of these people don’t know real hardship

It starts with a stable home life that focuses on education from the beginning
Teaching someone how to balance a checkbook in high school isn’t enough
I’m not sure if there is anything that can change the mindset at this point

Two parent families are a huge part of this.

Thank a democrat for where poor people are today.

I just put another six figure investment in my stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds.

My OT 10 wife just brought me a beer as I sit on our veranda. Just any other day for me.

Why do people choose to be poor?

Poor is relative.

Some people just aren't money motivated. They'll accept a subsistence lifestyle. I know a lot of folks like this, been one before for a few years.

THere's nothing wrong with that and I respect it. We start having issues when they become "victims."

If we were all rich we would all also be poor.

People make choices that lead to poverty.
1. Having kids they can't support
2. Addiction
3. Failure to acquire marketable job skills
4. Not saving money
5. Using high interest credit
