It’s all in the person you are. I bought a C6 a few years ago. LS3 435 hp is a reliable monster in the 3300 pound frame. It was 26k, with 50k mikes. It handled well and would probably run a low 12 second quarter with practice and the right tires. And plenty of power to unleash with just Bolt ons. Never had any real problems in the year I had it (except a clutch master cylinder that gm took care of out of warrantee). That same car is probably 3-4 grand cheaper now and can still scare the shite out of you.

I got complements daily on it, and it was 7-8 years old. Though I appreciate it, it’s not why I bought the car.

The interiors definitely suck on those models (and the c5), but at that price suck it up.

Hell a c5 z06 can be bad arse ride for sometimes with lower mileage in the high teens for price.

Definitely a bang for your buck. The c7 Z06 is an absolute monster, and 99% of people (including me) could never actually drive it without traction control or stability assist off. I don’t think many people ended up paying that full sticker of 120k either.

Forgetting the latter nonsense - Not since my dad briefly had a 1982 vette and I could drive, which was 1985/1986. I hated it, it was an automatic. I preferred his 280 ZX Manual trans and later the 300 ZX which was an auto too.
In 1982 the Coevette had 200 horsepower. The ZR1 today has 755 horsepower. Maybe it’s time to drive one in the 21st century.

You know there is quite a difference since your Dad's 82 and the new ones, right? BTW, I wouldn't own an 82 either.

I can think of at least one thing worse than driving a corvette, which is caring if someone else drives a corvette.

So you drove one of the most underpowered Vette’s ever and they all suck now because of it?

ETA Personally is rather the Camaro ZL1 if we’re talking brand new.

I’d like to drive one and see. Im old enough now that I don’t really give a shite what anyone thinks about what I drive so long as I like it.

I’m actually thinking of getting an old fox body LX and slowly fixing it up into a low key sleeper.

But the new vettes are very nice and certainly very striking.
2.9 0-60 on the new m5 is pretty sweet though...,
Decisions. Decisions.

For $120k, the 1000bhp Exorcist is a serious monster, too.

They managed to make a $20k car $100k more expensive. Sorry if I don't jump on it.

I’d take the new Lexus LC500 over a new z06 @ that $100k pricepoint, but a manual Corvette Grand Sport is a fantastic value @ $70k or slightly less.

The latest corvette zr1, from a pure performance standpoint, destroys every exotic there is besides the ultra high-end (i.e. 918 spyder, laferrari).

I can't get over the fact that the new Z06 beat the Ford GT (which beat the Viper ACR) around VIR. What an amazing time to be a gearhead.

What happened to former poster Vette Guy?

He was always bragging about fancy cars and shite, then disappeared. I think he deleted his account. Maybe it was on advice of counsel.

You’re comparing luxury coupes to what is essentially a race car. The new Corvette ZR1 has a top speed of 214 mph and has 755 hp. Totally different class of vehicle.

If you want a race car, why not just get a demon?

The Demon is cool until you want to turn at speed. That thing is only for straight-line speed while the Vette is a road course dominator.
