You started this crap tard.
Yes I have amazing friends and live near elderly parents on both sides. It is what it is.
I don’t want to go to Houston, but I may be forced to or just get stuck with dropping down to a $75k a year job

Just live in The Heights. If your commute is to the suburbs, you'll be going against the traffic so it won't even be a problem. Do this and you'll forget about New Orleans. Take it from someone who actually did this. There is mixed feelings about Houston/Texas in general on this board because most people who trash it are just miserable because they can't access an escape from Louisiana. Houston is a great city with multiple pockets of different vibes/architecture/people/food. Make the move and don't look back.

Pros: Bunch of Fiscal Conservatives. Value hard work.
Cons: 40% of them will unfortunately vote for Biden. Overpriced stores.

Lived one year in unincorporated Harris county.
Loved it.
Am trying to get wife on board with moving there.
You have everything you could ask for. Plus, way cheaper housing than South Louisiana.
On top of that cheaper taxes, even if pay $4 or 5k more in property tax, you'll save that in income tax.
I like south Louisiana, but Houston superior in every way.

Overall, Houston Area has a lot of positives and some negatives. It’s not that much different than South Louisiana in many ways. People don’t need to act like Houston is like what Texas is like on movies. The terrain, weather and food (to a lesser extent) are basically carbon copies of Louisiana. DFW & West TX would be a big jump coming from South LA.

It's like every other big city. Lots of great things and parts of town you avoid.

God’s Country. Shadow of Aggieland. That’s good living there.

Otherwise, it would be Lake Livingston or Lake Somerville

Kingwood checking in. I work on the NE side of town so my commute is pretty painless. The front of Kingwood is ok for commuting downtown but sucks arse if you live in the back. Schools are awesome but the football is pretty bland if you followed high school football back in LA. Speaking of LA, Kingwood probably has more LSU fans than any other suburb out there. Most of my block are people from LA and obviously I am the black sheep.
Great trails and parks. Not hard to be back in LA from Kingwood either. Not a big selection of places to eat though. The Woodlands blows us away in that department. Several heath clubs to train at. Great golf. Nice country club. I have lived here 25 years and will probably retire here.

Navasota and Wellborn are my favorite shadows of Aggieland.

The best one is the shortest drive to your office. I could blindfold you and drop you in any of them and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference
