I went to a house the other day that had a huge zenith console. But where the screen used to be it was an aquarium. It was actually pretty cool. Then it had a short throw projector on top of it.
They took the old TV with a TV on top to new levels.
Also short throw projectors will be the next big thing. It's what everyone will have in 10 years.

Parents gave me a 13" Magnavox tv for my room when I was 10 years old
Parents did the same thing for me... Funny after years the TV just disappeared after I moved out. I went to my sisters house and she had it.. Siblings stealing from one another pisses me off.
Had one like this that I carried around to different apartments for years. Had a lot of sports game parties with that one... It was a Zenith 27 inch console..

Ours like that imploded overnight.

We still had a 19" in our guest bedroom that we just gave to Goodwill last week.

In my home office, I had an RCA television made in 1981 that worked until last year. I loved that old tv. When it finally crapped out I should have converted it into a fish tank.

My grandparents had a big Zenith console from the mid-60s. When they first got it, the relatives would come over to watch Bonanza and Disney. Most shows were still B&W. We eventually ended up with it and kept it until the mid 90s when lightning took it out. It was a pretty awesome TV in its day.
I recently bought a 65" TCL that I'm sure cost less than Zenith, without any adjustment for inflation.

I had a heavy Curtis Mathes table top from my parents, about a 1967 model.
For one person to try to carry it was like watching a monkey frick a greased football.
Curtis Mathes Sr retired to Costa Rica in 1975 and died there in 1977.
Curtis Mathes Jr was flying commercially on an Air Canada flight and died at CVG Airport in an aircraft fire* in 1983.
That was the beginning of the end for Curtis Mathes.
*That fire incident was responsible for the installation of fire detectors in aircraft loos and the marking lights inside the cabin to show exits.

Was there any piece of furniture worse to move than a damn 80's to 00's television?
Yes, a fold-our sofa. Especially into the second floor of an apartment with no elevator.

I have two and they both still work.

I have two CRTs packed away that are just more trouble to get rid of than to just leave where they are.
A 40" Mits (not HD)
A 36" Sony 1080i 16:9 screen and it even has an early HDMI input.

Posted my 35 in Sony on the Craigslist Free section in 2008 with the agreement that I would not help move it. I don't think you could get any takers for that deal these days.

I regularly had to install those. Including once on top of a woman's kitchen cabinets. I have a photographic memory of her kitchen at the moment she pointed up there, and I went, "oh frick." Mitsubishi TV.

A few years back we threw away 3 tube TV’s that would have been considered high tech in the early 2000’s.
