I have several large format modern photography prints and two Photogravure prints, numbers 5 of editions of 5 for the Smithsonian, each worth at least between 8 and 10 k, and I have an etching by a Brazilian artist who moved to France in the 70s and has work in the French National Museum of Modern Art. My piece is a very rare early work on onion skin from the 60s in Rio. Does that count?

I know. That is insane. I’m a small baller who hasn’t paid more than $5k for something to hang on the walls.

I’ve got 23 Jimmy Lee Suddurh paintings. He was a folk artist from my hometown and my family helped his family a lot so he gave us paintings all the time.

I’m not sure how much they are worth, but his work sells for decent money.

Many, many, many fakes on the market. I would have it checked out by professionals. The fakes hit the market in the 70's and 80's

One Rodrigue that unfortunately doesn’t have a blue dog in it.

3 Clementine Hunters, of which one is genuine and verified.

Several local artists that have potential.

You mean you have an original print right? I mean, we're all OT ballers and all, but I don't think the actual original paintings are privately owned unless on display in a museum. Still, props to the print. Some of those things are worth 10s of thousands

When I was youngin I had a chance to buy a Charlie Russell pencil sketch for a hundred bucks. I passed it up. Those things sell for thousands now, and oils and sculptures much more, if you can find one at all-most are in museums.

This one hangs in the House chamber of the Montana State Capitol and measures approx. 12 by 15 feet.

quote:

Originals vs. Reproductions With historical prints, such as Audubon's, the term "original" refers to prints made by hand rather than mechanically. That means that the process, whether lithography, etching or engraving, for example, is done by a skilled craftsman and is usually supervised by the artist or the artist's family.

I've got family with a similar story. They all have several of his paintings.

I collected a fair amount of folk art years ago. My wife always complained about it, and it was easier to keep it out of her sight. Took her to lunch at house of blues, and she noticed that some of the things on the wall looked familiar. That cheap lunch saved all of that folk art.
