Where does the sewage go in those things? It just piles up?
Posted on 6/2/25 at 7:25 pm to cbree88
Yep! A big stinking pile; you sit in the odor of rotting shite.

We use one on our fishing trips at a cabin in Ontario, put some new tin on it a couple years ago.
Beautiful view of the lake and nowhere near as cold as the often snow covered fallen tree we used in the Flattops at 11K ft that we used to use during our CO elk hunts.

The one where I camped as a kid was called ‘Little Egypt’. Because the turds pile up like a pyramid

Do you consider hanging your arse over a log and taking a dump in the woods the same thing?
Cause I’ve done that.

That was deer camp for 30 years till 2021 when a big tree crushed it. We saved the door and repurposed it.

Used them at my grandparents farm in Kansas. This was in the 60s. Used them at Philmont Scout Camp in 2012.

We had one at our camp. Quarter moon carved in the door.

They are fairly common when hiking.
I used to bring cigars on backpacking trips to cover the pit toilet smell.

Monsanto ball park had two 2 holers out near the railroad track in right field in the late 50's.

Grandparents had one when I was growing up. Pretty cold in December/January. No running water. Carried water from the well in a bucket. Some of the best tasting water ever. Then Drummond Coal started strip mining nearby and fricked it all up.

I did many a time here in Arkansas. My first church had electricity, but no plumbing.

I used one when camping that had sawdust you dump in. Pretty effective at covering any smell

There's a public outhouse on a roadside north of San Francisco near Muir Woods. You smell the aromas of the coniferous forest walking to and from the outhouse but the inside smelled like rotting elephant shite.
