My 10 year old English Bulldog, that will be 11 in October is pretty damn old for an English. She doesn't give a damn about fireworks. But she's used to hanging out on the front porch with me while I smoke a joint and shoot my arsenal of firearms on a regular basis. She actually loves when I grab my 12 gauge pump to blast critters from my front porch.

Now my 2 cats are a different story, they haul asd inside th3 automatic pet door and hide under a bed.

Has more to do with severe weather I guess.

I shoot live rounds around my dog year round so fireworks don't bother him.

Don't raise some pussy dog in this house.

All the dogs just got a special meal of wet food they almost never get. 3 were straight food; the fourth had a 100 mg Trazodone tucked inside for our ancient Basset. I have to sit and watch her eat because she is really good about spitting it out, she didn't notice it this time.

is coming

Every dog I own ( 11 currently) is desensitized to gun shots and (by default) fireworks. Not saying they revel in it. But fireworks and gun fire don’t scare them.
They are however highly sensitive to
My disposition at any given time.

My lab would get real antsy inside with the fireworks but he was generally not bad about it. He preferred to be outside when they were blasting off. He wasn't trained as a gun/hunting dog, either. He would go insane if anything with a pulse got near my house, any time of day, no matter how quiet they were. Dogs are so fascinating. RIP to my boy Lou.

Never had a dog like our current one, who gives less than zero shits about fire works - doesn't even lift her head up.

If someone steps on a leaf half a block away she will fly at the door like a velociraptor

And that helps the dog how? It does exactly what to help keep them calm?

My dog just died the other day in front of me. She has been sick a while and could barely move. She got up, crawled to get me, looked at me, laid down and died about 20 second later.

When she was alive she hated loud noises.

That’s terrible! Sorry for your loss. It’s a double whammy this year in SoCal. Fourth of July and Mexico in the World Cup. It’s fricking nonstop fireworks around the clock.

Counterintuitively, it reduces their desire to bark incessantly, which makes them less anxious.

Mine just have to stay in the pen and deal with it. No idea if it bothers them or not.
