Anytime fireworks or thunder storms happen, I have to give my dog trazadone. Didn't think anyone would do fireworks last night but they did. She was shaking so bad. Was told that her previous owner kept her outside and they were hit by a tornado.

Started a thread earlier the drugging will commence in t-minus 4 hours. As the sun goes down so will the stress of one big golden receiver.

The older dogs get, the worse it seems to bother them.

Nah, mine’s fine. Unless something rattles everything just right that it sounds like someone opened a door, then he charges full tilt barking his arse off

Maybe we should not use fireworks anymore. Yes they produce pretty colors and loud sounds that would make any ape look up in awe, but why not use tracers instead?

Sounds like we need to be shooting off a lot more fireworks, to me. Dogs didn’t used to be afraid of fireworks and thunder.

I didn't know how bad it stressed her out until a couple of years ago. We had really bad thunder storms and she freaked out so bad, she bleed enough to look like a murder scene. Had to take her to a emergency vet and they wanted to put her down. Came close to doing that but waited until morning and took her to her normal vet. They said she was healthy but too stressed out. Put her on trazadone and helped her a lot. Only give it to her during fourth of July or new year. And only if a storm last a long time.

Thankfully the dogs we have now mostly ignore it or only bark a little.

My last dog, her and I had to go to an interior closet and wait it out together.

My Golden Retriever is no fan of thunder and fireworks. Two Golden Doodles sleep right through.

I read today that putting a few tennis balls in the dryer as background noise helps but have not yet tried it.

Had an Aussie that ran and laid down in the bathtub when they were going off.

We are supposed to have severe thunderstorm starting right around peak firework time.

Do fireworks sound like a tornado?
