My (very nice) neighbors, just stopped by. They have a massive dog and a mid-sized bundle of electricty, They kindly asked that we not set off our Publix fireworks. Before they came over, we set off the ones that don't go "boom". Fireworks are going off all around, but we respected their request. Being neighborly isn't so hard. Happy Birthday America!

Maybe we should not use fireworks anymore. Yes they produce pretty colors and loud sounds that would make any ape look up in awe, but why not use tracers instead?
You are part of the problem and I don’t even do fireworks. I have two dogs but if they can’t handle fireworks I won’t infringe on people popping them. They will live.

Mine gets a Trazadone too. He’s a big Aussie that ain’t scared of nothing but fireworks and thunder.

Trazodone and gabapentin mixture for my dog. Extremely upset with thunder or firework.
Will bark to begin with, then whine and then run into bathroom.
So sad to see I try to comfort him best I can and feel so sorry for him.
Never had a dog do this so really confusing why he does it not sure if past trauma before we rescued him or he doesn’t like the vibrations on his body.
Got a tight fitting doggie vest that seems to help some.

I don't mind fireworks... But those concussion bombs that go about 60 feet in air and explode so loud that it actually rattles the little window in my back door.. And there will be that drunk effer who will set one off at around 3 in the morning... Being it's a Saturday night I guarantee it will happen...

My mini Bernedoodle is currently enjoying a cocktail of 100mg of Trazodone and 300 mg of Gabapentin. She's laying on the tile of an upstairs interior bathroom where the fan is running. She's doing OK so far. Long way to go though. Was really hoping for a bunch of rain.

Every dog I own ( 11 currently) is desensitized to gun shots and (by default) fireworks. Not saying they revel in it. But fireworks and gun fire don’t scare them.
They are however highly sensitive to
My disposition at any given time.
I didn't raise this one from a pup. My kids rescued her in Florida a couple of years ago. She is probably about 8 yrs old. I've had a lot of dogs over the years and never had one that freak out like this one does. I have three other dogs and they could care less. Now my German shepherd will just bark.

All three of our French Bulldogs are 100% immune. Fearless and dumb as stumps. Unless its a frog, then they act like they are up against Godzilla.

I’m not sure why, but dogs do go crazy with fireworks and thunderstorms and our cat doesn't give a rats arse for either.

Yep, pretty much accurate.

Our dogs barely paid attention last night. A few barks here and there.
Of course, we now have another week of fireworks incoming.

Luckily my dog isn’t a pussy
I've owned 4 dogs and none were terrified of fireworks.
Boxer
2 Aussies
German Shepherd
I'd get rid of a dog that was scared of loud noises. If it can't tolerate a firearm being shot around it I have no use for it.

My current lab has to be medicated. He was a rescue and the 1st dog we've ever had that has had the firework / thunder fear. We doped him up last night he slept through the fireworks for the most part. However, around 11:30 last night there was a thunderstorm out over the lake and he saw the lightning flashes through the window. That set him off. He has an uncontrollable urge to dig whenever he's scared. He hops up in the bed or in the corner of our sectional sofa and starts digging like he's trying to get to China.

Arnie was asleep before the sun went down and was dead out until morning.

Played this for my dogs on the 4th starting in the afternoon. Helped and the Weim who usually freaks out was upset but not badly. Lots of youtube choices available.

However, if his food bowl had rattled he would have sprung into action like a Spitfire pilot scrambling during the Battle of Britain.
