Who are the best trial lawyers in the state?

With news of the possible personal injury ring, I always hear how the TV/Billboard lawyers like Morris Bart and Gordon never go to court or they refer cases to other firms. However I never hear of really anybody going to court. OT attorneys in your circles who are the top dogs?

Ahhh the romantic notion of playing Perry Mason. Any lawyer worth two shites will keep you well out of the courtroom.

There are some very good guys that actually take the cases to trial. Tony Clayton, Nat Keifer, guys like that.

There is something to be said about reaching settlement without the risk/cost of trial.

Just like Tangi's own Arden Wells. He's like bringing a pistol to a knife fight.

Lewis Unglesby if you’re guilty.

I had a very dry mandamus hearing one time in CDC on a million dollar lien that I was trying to have removed for a client. It was open and shut and I should have won it easily.
My opposing counsel was some slap dick from Baton Rouge who didn't know his arse from a hole in the wall, but he did one smart thin - he hired Fred Herman to come in and take over the in-court aspect of his case. Fred Herman certainly isn't known for his work in the construction law field, but the guy is a classic old school southern attorney.
He spent 90% of his time talking with his back to the judge looking out at the audience preaching. The content coming out of his mouth didn't have much to do with the law, but he was saying it with such conviction that it was impossible not to believe. The judge denied my request, the can got kicked down the road, and we eventually settled.
I can't speak to Fred's trial prep or anything else about his practice, but his oral advocacy skills are the best I've seen since I've been practicing.

Mike Small of Alexandria is the top criminal lawyer in this state I am pretty sure. Unglesby of Baton Rouge is probably no. 2. The price of freedom with those two gets pretty expensive but who cares if your arse is about to go to prison.
As for the civil end there are a ton of good ones out there.
The late Camille Gravel and Richard Burns were a class above all others as well back in their day.
