The officers claim lower-scoring black and female officers get promoted over white and male contenders, because of the department’s race and gender quota system, creating a “pernicious atmosphere of confusion, obfuscation and blatant discrimination.”

quote:

A dozen SFPD employees claim they were overlooked for promotions to sergeant, lieutenant and captain, because they are white and male, save for one retired officer who says that her status as a white lesbian is why she was passed over for a lieutenant’s post.

quote:

The complaint claims the foundation for SFPD’s promotional system has been shaped by a class action filed on behalf of black officers facing discrimination in the ’70s. After Officers for Justice v. Civil Service Comm’n in 1973, the police department began using a “banding” procedure to comply with a consent decree to hire a greater number of minority and female employees, according to the complaint.

“The selections from the Sergeant’s promotional list reveal that white officers were passed over at a rate of nearly 3 to 1, as compared to black officers,” Mullanax writes in the complaint. “Put in its most stark terms, white officers comprised 63.5% of the total candidate pool (combining both promotional rounds) but accounted for only 46% of candidates selected in total, as compared to the 100% success rate for black officers.”

It's a victim contest in a liberal stronghold. Also, water is wet.

If I'm those white male officers I'm asking myself why I'm still in SF of all places.

I know I feel safer with the cops being non-binary, gender queer persons of color.

I thought it was dreamed that one day we can be judged not by the color of your skin.

You obviously took that out of context in order to twist his words because you’re a racist xenophobic cis-shite lord

These white male cops should be happy to even have a job. They’re really not welcome in SF. Maybe if they’re gay but that’s it.

Yeah right. People who say that are the ones who ends up judging the hardest.

Wow. If you’re white, you have less than a 50% chance of being promoted. If you’re black, guaranteed to get promoted.

How the frick is this legal? Hope they win a huge amount of money.

Equality to the left is actually inequality to all normal people. Can't wait to see more things like this fold out.

To be fair, this issue isn’t exclusive to San Francisco or some other liberal city. I remember a big case with the Birmingham FD over the same issues.

Why can't we just promote those who do their jobs the best?

As long as Harry Callahan is on the SFPD, the city is safe no matter the rest of the force.

“Well officer Moore, maybe you’ll tell us all here about about your most important felony arrest.”

Who's the bigger victim in a socialist left-controlled city...? They're just turning on themselves now.

Gotta worry more about stepping in people-shite or bumping into some homeless dude with a few needles in his arm now.
Cali would be a great place if it weren't for all the Californians.

I’ve been there several times and have zero urge to go back to see or do anything more in SF proper.

Now within a 300 mile radius of SF, there’s aplenty to see & do, so I’ll put up with dealing with SFO as a starting/stopping point.
