My last name is German as frick. Did my ancestry years ago and had British and German results. What surprised me was the high percentage of Iberian Peninsula, which is Spain and Portugal.

Yes. You are.

A post about people who think they have German ancestry, but are in fact British.

Then some dumb redneck has to shite on black people.

Get real dude. We have to learn to be able to be able to make fun of each other without being so offended. Why do we have to handle black people with kid gloves? They can take their ribbing like every other group does.

My DNA test confirmed I am more Sottish and English than most Scottish and English people. I was like 99.3% from that island. The other .7% was a weird mix of some northern Siberian eskimo and a place I've never heard of in the Baltics.

I'm of Norse descent. We pretty much ate Francian, Brits and Saxon for breakfast.

The Vikings got their arses handed to them quite often by the Saxons. Especially in pitched battles. When the Saxons/JutesAngles first arrived from Germany and Denmark they would have sounded and looked a lot like the Norse who came years later.

The original 13 colonies on this soil were from British origin. Makes sense.

It's funny because a lot of people in Louisiana who think they are Cajun are actually more German than French.

Most people from south Louisiana that claim to be Cajun probably aren’t. Even having a French surname and ancestry tied to France doesn’t make someone a Cajun just because they are from Louisiana.

The only real Cajuns are the individuals that can trace their ancestry back to the French that were exiled from Nova Scotia or (Acadie) as it was known.

Acadie “Acadian”……when you combine these two words and get some redneck saying it you get “Cajun”

We did our ancestry and found great grandparents and older came from Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and France. I don't think we have any British.

Yes, that is what my dad thought, too. My maiden name is of German origin, but I'm 71% British isles. I'm only 11% German. I'm also 27% northern European.

People know they are at least part German because that is the part of their family history they can trace, because the krauts wrote every damn thing down somewhere, or painted it on a building.

Dirty family secret is that we're not actually German - got kicked out of Austria and just settled there.

A lot of those French men married MicMac(MI'kmaq) indians after arriving to Nova Scotia.

That is the only part of me that is not French.
