I agree, I always thought racial tensions are extremely exacerbated in the south by others. The most racist people I have ever met have all been from the Northeast and they don't even know it

100%

Massachusetts is the most racist state by far.

I always thought Lafayette was pretty chill until 2020. New Iberia is, well New Iberia.

Ask the New York Times or the Washington Post.

They know everything about anything.

Ferriday. Wait, scratch that; no white people live there for tension to exist. I actually think Jena and Jonesville are up there

A lot of them, but the tension is being propagated and inflamed by the media. Get two southern baws of different races in the same room, BSing about the weather at the gas station, helping each other out of a bind, or working together on a project at work and you’d never know they were different races if you just read a transcript of their interaction.

That’s where 99.9% of the true south is. No virtue signaling or woe-is-me victimization. Just people respecting people because they are people and God loves ‘em and so do we.

I went to Walmart in Natchitoches this morning. As I always do, I swing by the gun section to see if there’s any ammo on the shelf to grab. A middle aged black man was standing there in his coveralls and mumbled to nobody “damn they don’t sell bullets anymore?”

I asked him what he was looking for and he said 12 gauge bird shot. I told him that I look for bullets 2-3 times a week at this Walmart, and that 12 gauge bird shot is often here, but does sell out quick. I then explained to him how during the virus, and now the new issues in DC have caused all ammo to be a hot commodity, and told him to stay aware and to pop in a few times a week and he would be sure to find what he wants. As we walked away, I turned around and told him that I had some 12 gauge bird shot at the camp and would be willing to spare a couple boxes if he really needed them today.

He was so happy, told me thank you but he would take my advice and keep coming back to Walmart to find what he needs eventually.

All of this lasted 3-4 minutes I’d say.

This is what relationships are like down here. Nobody is threatened. Nobody is talking down to one another. Nobody gives a shite where we came from. In that moment we were just a couple country brothers looking for some god damn ammo, and I just so happens to have a shite ton of what he needs.

frick the media and frick every cock sucker in Washington DC that pokes that fire.

I live in a small town in north Louisiana. It is almost non-existent here because I presume small towns are more tightly knit with everyone know one another. Also, there aren't those people who are "woke" stirring the pot and making it an issue that is at the forefront of our everyday lives. I'd argue that we have more solidarity amongst members of our community than those bigger cities who boast to be culturally diverse.

ETA: a large portion of black folks here are baws who drive trucks and have more similarities to rednecks than those from the hood.

Exactly. And even that town has come a long way. Hard to remain with “racial tension” when half the white girls there have black baby daddies.

And look at Billy’s boudin any day of the week and there just as much if not more black people waiting in line.
