And people wonder why our healthcare costs so much. All these white-coat tail riders are part of the problem

I got an interesting view into it last year. My wife had both her feet reconstructed and I requested my friend for his parts. Happened to be a specialty he sold parts to.

100k in surgery total.

The hospital listed his parts as 5k and he said he sold them for about 3k to the doctor. My numbers are a bit off but I was surprised it wasn’t marked up more.

The Stryker guys that make $800,000 per year are great looking men

I started out working for Stryker. I just finished graduate school and was ready to sit for the cpa exam when sitting at a bar, a random patron that I was conversing with ended up offering me an opportunity to interview for a job with Stryker.

Worked for them, straight commission, for 7 years then had enough of the stress. I’m now a cpa with my own practice and many of the physicians I sold to are again my clients, but just in a different industry.

All that I know make 3-500k minimum . All commissioned sales. One of my friends has done it for years and just took a promotion for less commission but less stress. The week after he moved up, his replacement got the largest order ever in his patch with a longtime customer and made 20k commission after taxes his first week on the job. My friend got 0.

Excuse my ignorance, but this doesn’t add up. Do they get like 20 orders every day? How the hell you get to $500k if $20k is the biggest ever?

I’m not acting like I know the industry in and out. I live in Temple, TX where Baylor Scott and White and Fort Hood are so it’s almost impossible to not know people in the industry.

That guy is not one of the 500k guys I know. He was more like $300k I believe. 20k commission off a single sell is huge. I don’t care who you are. They have contracts with BS&W, Seatin, and Fort Hood so he’s fairly transactional on commissions and regular but it was a fairly steady income.

ETA: I want to say he got a few hundred in commission off my wife’s measley foot. She was one of 3 surgeries for that day for him. He doesn’t have that every day but he can easily make $1k a day with enough orders.

From what I understood Fort Hood basically stocked up on everything he sold to them in an order which they had never done before. Just after he left that position.

Again, I don’t know all the salaries and how much everybody makes but I can make assumptions based on their lifestyles.

I have sold in both of these industries (insurance to these people in the later). This is the correct answer.

Not surprising your writing career failed and you now sell insurance.

You are a failure at life. Congrats loser

I work in Industrial Chemical sales. I’m 30 and am the youngest by a stretch. Chemical sales certainly seems like an old man game.

No offense, but... no, you can’t.

If you really think you can , then i guess their humblebragging and Facebook posting is having it’s desired effect on you.

I’m in medical sales, but this isn’t specific to my industry- many, many people who make bank are the ones you’d least suspect, and those who tend to show off their conspicuous consumption are often times holding things together with bubblegum and duct tape.. generally-speaking, of course.
