Capitol Heights has several excellent restaurants of various types (Soji, Bistro Byronz, Superior Grill, Curbside, Hanna Q, Rocca Pizzeria, Monjuni’s, La Caretta, Jed’s Poboys) within walking distance. It has Mid City Beer Garden and Tap 65 within walking distance. Lots of young people moving in. It seems to be geared towards your demographic.

If I had the money I’d live in Old Goodwood

I was in your same boat, and based by your username we may know each other. I bought a house in midcity in 2020 and been living there ever since. The neighbors on each side of me are college kids, but across the street are other young professionals. I really enjoy it and I've had zero issues with any crime. I'm able to walk to bars, restaurants, and calandros easily. Prices are a little high, but I think they've plateaued for the time being.
Exactly what I’m looking for. Want to go out and have fun, but more importantly I want to make sure I’m not living in some gang infested neighborhood.
So it’s not really ghetto around Mid City? I always assumed it was, but my ignorance has lead me to believe that anywhere outside of St. George is the ghetto.

Stay around the overpass area, look at lake hills, hundred oaks, or poets corner. Restaurants, bars, a grocery store, coffee, interstate access, everything you need is within walking distance

People on here post how mid city isn’t ghetto and they love living there in one thread and then complain about having their car windows broken in another thread. Just because you have a blm sign in your yard doesn’t mean you won’t get broken into

Don’t let the Archie Bunkers of the OT scare you.
Drive around those areas and take a look for yourself.

Broadmoor, Goodwood
Not for a single guy. Subdivisions with large, older houses that are chock full of families.
That Capital Heights area seems to be the busiest area for the young, single crowd.
One of the neighborhoods off Perkins near the overpass would be nice, and near the St. Paddy's day parade route.

Where is your job?
Bluebonnet.
What range are you looking to spend? 1 BR? Any roommates? May have missed some of these answers.

South of government, I’d stay to the east of Park Blvd. If north of government, east of Baton Rouge High. But never north of North Blvd. There are some homeless around, but I’ve never been bothered walking around. I have heard about a serial masterbater in Ogden Park though.

I'd say Garden District or Capital Heights would be a good fit. The nicer parts of what I consider the Mid-City area are pricy.
Kenilworth is very affordable for what you get and would be close to Bluebonnet for work, but its kind of a boring area.

Without knowing where you work on Bluebonnet, I'd say Jefferson Terrace probably first and foremost. There's a lot of older, smaller houses in there for rent. Occasionally there's ones that pop up for sale that aren't insanely expensive (older ones on Landsbury Ave, Danbury Dr, Hillsbury, Idlewood, etc). But the neighborhood is convenient to BBonnet (and I10), Airline (and I12), etc.
Next suggestion would be Oak Hills. Like JT, you have a lot of different types of houses in there. That one is also convenient to both Bluebonnet, Perkins, and Siegen - multiple ways in and out.
Finally I'd look at Spring Lake. There's a lot of good starter homes around there that aren't too mega expensive. Plus with Harveston, you have some great school options and nice houses going up to help the general value of the area. Bummer is there's some shite apartments going up around Burbank that are gonna frick it up a little.
Let me know if you need a good realtor. I do a lot of investing and flips around BR and know a pretty good one who knows best spots to buy for your $$$.
