Seems like everything I have ever seen on TV was when I was in front of a TV.

I remember my parents being in awe....I THINK. I was close to 5 years old depending on the month that it happened.

Did this one slip the news? I heard NOTHING about it and didn't really figure out what it was about until I was 19 and curious. It's still not very prolific or talked about in the news...

quote:

1998: President Clinton addressing the nation for the first (honest) time on Lewinsky.
I can't forget this. My dad was so locked and loaded and passionate about this. I was old enough to realize Clinton might have done a no no and my dad was NOT happy about it.

1998: Mark McGwire breaks 61
HEREEEEEEE we go. I came home every day after school and stayed up late and woke up early ALL just to see if Sammy or Mark went deep. Plus Pedro was incredible. And SO many others. 98 99 were peak sports to me. Baseball was SO great.

2001: 9/11
First period, 6th grade. Teacher walks in and asks us to just stay in our desks while she leaves for a second. She brings back one of those tall rolling TV stands and plugs it in and shite. The first building had been hit and she explained what was going on through tears. Mom came and got me from school.

I was playing for the Cubs and we got back to our apartment really late that night. I'd like to say 11:30...after a HOME game. It could have been 1am, idfk. We all kinda drag to our rooms and one of the guys screams, "HEY!! Y'all get in here!" We all ran to the living room to find the need plastered on the TV. We used it as an excuse to call people over and get wild

OJ I don’t remember. I remember more of the trial.

Same with OKC

Lewinsky I remember. It was going into my sr year of HS. We would hang out at different peoples houses. We were at this girls house in their converted garage. Her dad had a sweet pool table. We were playing pool and had it on the TV.

McGwire I was at my best friends house down the street. His dad was grilling burgers.

9-11 I was in college. Got up that morning for my finance class and for some reason didn’t turn the TV on. Professor gave us our normal quiz. He apparently didn’t know either. Class was buzzing when I walked in which was very odd for an 8:30 finance class. Most of our professors that day took roll and dismissed us. I went back to my girlfriends apartment. We watched news all day. My stats professor that afternoon gave us our scheduled test. Everyone was mad. Classes were cancelled the rest of the week.

Bombs being dropped I was at work. We had a shitty little TV and had it on the news.

Don’t remember the statue toppled live.

Katrina I was in Birmingham. I saw the radar the day before and knew it was going to be horrible.

Obama don’t care.

Bin laden was near my birthday. We were in destin and had been fishing.

True story - my girlfriend and I were lounging in bed watching TV just after having done the deed ourselves.

in college, a Tuesday I believe. I worked my schedule to basically be in class from 9am to 9pm so I could go 2 days per week. None of my professors cancelled, so I basically missed 90% of the coverage.

I was working in DC at the time, and a bunch of us rode our bikes down the the White House. I still have pictures and videos of that night. There must have been thousands of people chanting USA USA USA. There were several celebrities down there mingling with the crowd. It is one of my fondest memories.

9/11 - sleeping in an apartment on Nicholson, accounting class was dismissed early later that day.

Katrina and Rita a month later - Was in BR for both. Crazy times. I had strangers living in my unused apartment for 3 months, they lost everything in NOLA.

I honestly don’t remember where I was for any of this crap.

I don’t base my life on news events that don’t effect me.

I remember both of those events, but I also remember when we dropped the Atomic Bomb on Japan. I was four years old sitting at the kitchen table with my Grandpa listening to the radio.
