Was doing a sales call in Shreveport. When I was heading back to BR AF1 was getting to Barksdale.
Did not see it heard about it days later.

I remember riding through the CBD in the bus and it was a ghost town. Don’t remember who made that announcement though. Was it Michael?

Driving to work listening to talk radio in Baton Rouge. Who was the duo maybe on 1150 AM? Someone help me out. Got to work and we had the TV on all day. Still very surreal.

Got up, showered, changed and ate breakfast without turning on TV. Driving to work and the morning shock jock DJs are having a strange argument over whether a plane hitting the WTC could be an accident or intentional. I realize they are having this debate because a plane (of unknown size) has crashed into the WTC. One DJ thinks it was an accident, the other thinks it has to be intentional, possibly pilot suicide.
A caller goes on the air and tells the story of how a transport plane crashed into the Empire State Building back in the 40s when it got lost in fog. This seems to shift the debate in favor of an accident. Then the second plane crashed and both DJs were like "holy shite, we're under attack". Then the DJ who had been arguing that maybe it's accident decided to take up the argument that maybe it's not muslim terrorists. This time the second DJ cut him down pretty swiftly.
Got to work and of course everyone is crowded around the only TV in the office.

On way to dentist to get a root canal. Heard Richard Condon say plane hit wtc. In chair doped up when nurses came running by screaming another plane hit.

I was asleep when it all happened. My grandmother came to the house and woke me up. I turned on the tv and watched the replays

I was in Sydney at the time. It was about 10:00pm and I had just gone to bed. After the first plane hit, Sky News broke in. The wife (no pics) woke me up. I watched the news for a few minutes, and thought it was a small private jet or something. Went back to bed. The second plane hit and I hear my brother-in-law in the living room yell “f—king hell!” I get out of bed and watched everything go down until about 4am. Spoke with my folks on the phone for awhile. Went to bed at 4 and was awake at 6 to go to work. On the train ride into the city hardly a word was spoken and everyone was reading the Sydney Morning Herald or the Daily Telegraph. Being the only American in the office people acted kind of funny around me, like they didn’t know what to say. Spent most of the day just watching the news on the tv in the lunch room.

Walking into work, just 3 months into my job out of college. Watched the 2nd one hit online. Downtown Houston (I lived in midtown, just south of it) was a ghost town by 2pm. Donated blood at the convention center before work the next day, but it took forever, so I didn't get to work until 10 or so. Supervisor was all worried, like you gotta check in a day after this kinda stuff if you are doing something. Before I had a cell phone. Damn, I miss not having a cell phone.

On the way to my philosophy of art class - I don’t play the radio in the morning so I had no idea - when I got to class the professor said we could stay and talk about what happened or leave. Plenty left, but I stayed to find out what happened.
When I got to my next class (continental rationalism) - people begged the professor to let us go. And he said, ‘no that’s what those people want, they want to interrupt and control our lives - we won’t let them’
Other students were pissed, but I think he was right.

Downtown BR working for the state at the time. It was a crazy day because it was before smartphones. No TVs at the office either so everything was by word of mouth. You just kept hearing different stuff over the course of the day not knowing what was true. People were wondering what’s next?

Waiting in a customer’s parking lot to make a sales call listening to WSB in Atlanta. Heard the news. Ran into customer’s building because I knew they had a TV. Saw the same receptionist today.

I worked in the Texas State capitol when Oklahoma City was bombed we're watching it on the news
I needed to get something out of my truck which was in the underground garage I went down there and the place was crawling with bomb-sniffing dogs I went back to the office and sat there thinking it could be sitting on top of a bomb right now and they won't let us leave

High school classroom in Arlington, VA. They let us out at 1pm because of fear of roadblocks, and closures. Cell coverage was nonexistent and we couldn’t reach anyone.
I had a bunch of friends whose parents worked in the pentagon and capitol. At the time there was concern another plane would be headed to the Mall, either White House or capitol.
I remember coming home and my mom was sobbing on the couch. We were out of school for the rest of the week. I was a sophomore and didn’t realize the severity until my friend told me he couldnt reach his dad at the pentagon. He ended up being fine but wasn’t able to leave the building until early Wednesday morning

Leaving math class in 8th grade, headed for the gifted program. They let us watch since there were only 8 of us. I didn't really know the gravity of the situation until later. My next class was Louisiana history and my teacher's brother worked in the Pentagon. He couldn't get a hold of him and I just remember this grown-arse man that was ex-military and easily the biggest hard arse of a human being I knew to that point being absolutely beside himself.
I got home and a couple of us kids were shooting hoops in the street while our moms all freaked the hell out because we were 20 minutes as the crow flies from Barksdale.
I couldn't quite wrap my head around all the politics and such at the time but I just remember having the hardest time understanding why it happened. I became a cynical little a-hole for quite some time after that.

In the tactical operations center for Task Force Med Eagle at Eagle Base, Bosnia-Herzegovina (SFOR 9). I was the Task Force S3. My communications sergeant came in and told me to turn on the television (which I did not permit during the duty day). We gathered around the TV just in time to watch the second plane hit.
Never Forget.

Headed to look at a job in Laredo TX, heard it on the radio, dj said a small commuter plane had hit the WTC like it was just an accident. Things went nuts from there, pulled into a truck stop to watch it on TV. By the time I was headed back north there were rumors going around that hijacker conspirators were headed out of Dallas and trying to get to Mexico. I pulled up to the Border Patrol station and there was a Blackhawk hovering around and all the uniform folks were tense as could be and carry machine guns. It was a long 3 hours home driving solo.
