I was a student at LSU, living at plantation trace (dump). My mom called as I was getting ready for class and said “put on the Tv, some a-hole flew a plane into the World Trade Center”.
Watched in disbelief as the 2nd plane was flown into the other tower.
My mom was a character, she passed away 6 years ago. This phone call summed up her “spirit”.
Sad day for Americans, but truly brought the country together.
Where/What were yall doing when you got the news.
My generations JFK assassination “where were you at” moment

I found out when I got to work.
I tried to take money out of the ATM a few minutes earlier and got a communication error. Stopped at the coffee shop on Carrollton and hear the radio say all airports were closed and thought it was weird.

Sitting at desk at work. Wondering why internet was slow.
Call from friend saying a plane had hit one of the towers. Went to find the one TV in the office and shortly after I turned it on the second tower got hit.
Call from wife freaking out saying she heard the Pentagon had been hit and asking if we were at war. I said it sounded like it.
Unreal and the US response was impotent considering the threat. The current Mayor of NYC and the conquest of a number of areas of the USA by Islam is proof.

I was 21 and still in college, but that morning I was off, so I was in my garage working on something and heard breaking news on the radio so I went inside to turn on the TV
I remember calling my GF after the first plane. She was in class and I told her school would probably be cancelled then the 2nd plane hit while I was on the phone with her.
Just pure confusion and disbelief. She came home and we were glued to the TV all day.

PE first hour. We heard a plane hit a building. I made an offer color joke about a woman pilot (a pilot had crashed into a post office or irs office a few days before), with no tv, we didn't realize the seriousness.
Second period, the TV was on and it all went to shite really quickly. Some girls were crying hysterically and left school. A few of us signed out at noon, grabbed some cigarettes, and just chain smoked watching the news at a buddy's house.
I remember just walking into a friend's house, and his dad who hadn't smoked in twenty years was smoking on the couch. There were probably five or six of us drinking coffee and smoking inside when his wife got home. She was oblivious, but realized if he was smoking, we were smoking, and we were gathered around the tv, shite was real.

I was literally on premises at the Pentagon and Capitol Hill that morning. Was also at the US Supreme Court as news broke about the first plane and when the second plane was hit.
I walked all the way across Northwest that day to ultimately get on a shuttle to go home, past the Pentagon which was still smoldering and maybe still in flames.
I will never ever forget this Hispanic kid looking at me on the bus and asking, “ why them people did that?”
The next idk how many months I pretty much thought every day that I could be a victim of some terrorist attack.
ETA Security at the SCOTUS told me verbatim “Get the frick out of here right now.” When I walked away from there, congressman st one of the office building were being whisked away in black cars.
Crazy shite that day. People saying the “mall was on fire.” We were like the MallMall or the shopping mall?
Also by the time I got in that bus, rumors already going around. I heard some chick say into her cell phone (btw remember this was pre-iPhone) “yeah they shite it down.”

I was a LSU student as well and had Tuesdays and Thursdays off that semester. 9/11 is the only reason I remember that, but I had an appointment. I was in the process of getting my ramp van modified with electronic hand controls and had to go to the place where it would eventually get done and do some measurements, etc. I remember every radio station was covering it and when I got to where I was going. I went inside and it felt like the air was sucked out of the place. One of the ladies who worked there had a daughter in the military who was in New York city and she couldn't get in touch with her.
Everyone was glued to the TV. The woman who had a daughter in NYC wasn't panicking, I remember she saying that she knew she wasn't in one of the towers, but where she was staying was several blocks from the towers. I remember a lot of details from that day, but eventually that lady's daughter called her. I remember being happy for her because she was clearly worried.

In my office at work in south Louisiana. Coworker stuck their head in my door and said "a plane hit the World Trade Center". We watched on TV in the lunchroom as much as we could for the rest of the morning.
Worked at the same place for over 35 years and don't remember all of what I did for most of those 8,000+ days, but I remember that morning like it was yesterday.

I worked nights. Was about to leave the shop, and went in the office for something, and the 1st plane had just hit. Stood there with them and watched for an hour.
