Sluts love Bogies. Plus, it’s not even in the shithole that is Tigerland.

Tigerland is a fricking dump but it rakes in the cash. Yes it needs to be bulldozed but the people who own the properties would never agree because it’s easy money for zero upkeep.

LSU’s expansion should be along Nicholson to downtown.

Vanderbilt has to be the best bar scene amongst SEC towns right?

Who has the best in NCAA D1?

I always thought that the N gate was where all the action should have been located (it's where I spent all of my time in the late 80's. The Bayou, The Library, The Chimes, late night food at Louies...)

1/ It's close to the dorms
2/ It's closer to all sporting venues
3/ It already has the bones (Chimes)
4/ It is walkable to campus
5/ It's close to the lakes

For instance, imagine bars, retail, and restaurants running down E and W State St with a few good parking decks. Would be ideal. You could get off the interstate at Dalrymple and be there in 5 minutes. Tigerland is in BFE.

I have always hated the vibe in Tigerland...

In the early 1980’s, there was a nice stretch of bars on Highland north of campus. You had the Chimes St. places and Murphy’s but then it kept going north. Cotton Club, Shanahan’s, the place across from Shanahan’s (can’t remember the name but had 3 mixed drinks for 75 cents special), and the Bengal. Pedro’s was there to feed the drunks who didn’t eat at the bars themselves.

But residents preyed on the bargoers and business dried up. The Bengal did okay because they had more or less secure parking. It was a lot safer to go to Tigerland and park almost anywhere without worrying.

It's such a bad vibe..I get it's where all the social happenings are but the bars and neighborhood surroundings are characterless. It feels like you're next to a farm

Northgate at least has an urban feel to it

The Bengal was pretty awesome too. We used to go there in drink in HS back when nobody really cared about that kind of thing.

Could park and go to it, and two or three other great, cheap drinking places in the 70's. Before Murphy's, the bars at that intersection where The Bengal is located, was where all of the frat crowd went.

I went there in high school during some Greek week thing when pitchers were a dollar. Threw on one of my brother shirts, and drank like a fish.

When 18 was the drinking age, bars didn't care if you might be 16 or 17.

I have been around other SEC schools and their bars and nightlife is better then that area of a dump. I know the other side has the Varsity and Chimes but I always expected LSU to have better then this. They should knock down everything in that area and rebuild it brand new and have a nicer place for the students to go enjoy themselves.

The OP doesn't understand the English language and is on here bitching about a college bar district.

Fred's isnt the only bar pumping money into their building. The House has already started. Tigerland will look very different soon.

Just asking since I honestly don't know; how many bar districts are owned by a University.

I guess that its less than one but could be wrong.
