That's an awfully broad brush you're painting with. I have several tattoos, all of which I thought about for a solid 6 months (at least) before actually getting them.

That's really just a matter of taste. Yours is just yours. it's not an objective fact.
There are a lot of tattoos that I find to be artistically interesting. There are also a lot that I don't like at all. But I'm not dumb or arrogant enough to think that my subjective opinion is "correct". However, I can confidently say that my baseline understanding and appreciation of art is significantly more developed than yours.

I just know of athletes that spent thousands upon thousands on tattoos. While I know 99.9% do not spend that much, if you're spending $200 per month on tattoos, that's a colossal waste of income IMO. Not problem with tattoos in terms of appearance with a few exceptions, but it just seems to really convey a poor sense of priorities in some cases financially speaking. Just my two cents.

Yeah, but what you think has meaning when you are 18 you'll look back at 35 or 50 and shake your head.
And the guys running around with skulls, snakes or Vikings carrying a sword aren't really documenting a their discovery of the meaning of life. Nor is the soccer MILF with a Chinese symbol on the back of her neck that has as much of a chance announcing the Friday lunch special at Hung Lo's Chinese Buffet as it does proclaiming "Serenity" or "Love".
And the guys running around with skulls, snakes or Vikings carrying a sword aren't really documenting a their discovery of the meaning of life. That's a contradiction to your previous sentence. I can't speak for the poster, but art is in the eye of the beholder, and is VERY subjective. I may find some a-hole wearing a diaper and wearing a kleenex box on his head, either mentally damaged or has a psychosis, but others may think it's "breathtaking art that expresses the current geopolitical atmosphere". My first assumptions would be correct by many others, but there are plenty of scatter-brain'd hipsters that may disagree with me. Who is correct?

Like I said, there are some who make bad decisions when it comes to their choice in tattoos. But this is not true of everyone with a tattoo.

See it in Austin fairly regularly. Other parts of the country aren't as conservative as the south
