Luby's. I don't know what they do to their food. When we lived elsewhere Luby's was one of only 5 options. Wife always wanted to shop after. She was the GF then, so I tolerated until one marathon session in a Wal Wart. Just a regular poo but it was a time consuming one. No food makes me "crap myself" and literally run to a BR. If so, it is the last time I eat there.

But Lubys consistently is like 2 cups of coffee. I want to be in the confines of my own house, or a "clean, well lighted" crapper somewhere.

Then you've got real problems. Colonoscopy preps usually take about 20-30 minutes to kick in.

But what the thread is about is called gastrocolic reflex. After eating, a huge peristaltic wave works it's way through the abdomen pushing out the old food, now stool.

If there was a food that made me go full on Brainerd diarrhea, I'd probably stop eating it. Thankfully I have good sphincter control and can usually manage without too much undue strain.

There could be a circular effect with some people's body rhythms or whatever you want to call it. Gastrocolic reflex, combined with our personal routines...

You know, if you go the same time or approximately the same time every day, then your body-clock sets itself for that time period. This, for some, could be a chicken-egg effect. Did you start going because of gastrocolic reflex, which caused your body-clock to anticipate right after meals?

It's hard for me to articulate what my mind is coming up with.

No one has mentioned Indian food...

I ate at Ruth's Chris and was in the bathroom before I left. Had to do the walk of shame.

I don't get how it can go from your gullet to your arse so fast.

You think I like having a sensitive gut? I'd love to bring coffee in the deer stand in the morning. Ain't gonna happen. I'd love to be able to eat somewhere and not have to plan it so I have a bathroom close by as soon as I'm done.

IBS along with being lactose intolerant is not a fun way to go through life

It is fricking crippling. I checked out the bathroom situation when I interviewed for my current job.

Anti-anxiety medication can lessen IBS symptoms.

Yes. I've considered them over the years. Luckily, I've done a really good job of taking control of my mind as I've gotten older. As a kid, any ounce of anxiety put me out for days.

Still - I take a daily probiotic, I don't drink coffee, I acknowledge that drinking alcohol the night before is going to hurt me the next day, and (most importantly).. I eat very small portions.

It wasn't certain foods that got to me. It was ALL foods. Just eating until I'm full was triggering it. So I skip breakfast and I eat a very light lunch at work. It has helped tremendously.

For years I had IBS symptoms only to find out when I had my surgery to remove endometriosis that the endometriosis had caused my bowel to attach to my abdominal wall. And was the root of my symptoms. Every now and again I'll have a flare up but nothing like it used to be.

Don't go to the doctor. They send you home with a bag to poop in and then you have to bring it back
