You're probably right. It still shocks me in the grocery store when people pull out cash

I was just curious what the businesses were that take in so much cash.

What are you folks who run a business doing that handles that much cash? I mean I restaurant I could see, but your average business these days? I'd think that's mostly online and credit/debit payments.

Checks too. Lots of people still pay for things in cash and checks.

There have been studies done that suggest cash transactions actually cost businesses far more than transaction fees on credit/debit cards when all is said and done.

I rather cash.. Of course I don't always use it, but sometimes I will take cash out of my personal cash stash to buy something.

It seems like if someone doesn't have a banking account, they will likely be old people. I have a great aunt & uncle (late 70s) who doesn't have a bank account. They have to go get money orders to pay for their utility bills, etc.

They live in a house my great uncle built, they pay for their vehicles in cash (well they probably get a money order), but great uncle says he doesn't trust banks.

Go inside a bank right before it closes on a Friday. All kinds of people cashing their paychecks.

I used to be Controller at an 18-wheeler dealership, and you would be surprised how many would pay cash for used trucks, not to mention just paying for parts/service. Most of the customers paying cash for trucks were foreign.

A couple times per year, to pick up foreign currency or to have Cashiers Checks made.

The average age of the customers I see inside the bank is about 385 and their average weight is about the same in lbs.

Every week, depositing checks for work.

My own bank, a lot less often. I only have 2 people left to get onto the Venmo train. No, I don't want to buy lunch with my card and take your $12. Separate the check or get Venmo.

We've tried getting clients to move to online payments, but you'd be surprised how many still mail a check.
