What do you keep in a safety deposit box that couldn't be kept in a home safe?

This

Have an uber fireproof gunsafe bolted to the floor in one of my closets. Plus the contents are insured. Have guns and some physical gold and silver in there

Me too. My Liberty safe weighs like 600 lbs and is anchored to my slab

The correct response would be things that could burn and getting copies are literally impossible.

always wonder why there are so many bank branches. I go into one maybe once per year

Community reinvestment act forces banks to open branches in underserved neighborhoods. If a bank doesn’t have enough CRA “points” then they can’t look at acquisitions, new atm sites, etc.

Theoretically, but it is a tangent that is useless in this thread.

To quote Oceans 11, "The house safe is for brandy and grandmother's pearls."

When things are good you shouldn’t have to visit your bank often unless you prefer face to face.

When things go bad, you’ll be glad you have a banker that knows your name and face.

(Aka don’t use the big banks - you’re just a number)

When I moved from Dallas to Ruston in 2011, I went in and talked with my bank's location here. Pretty sure they ordered checks for me then. I get checks from Sam's since then. The only time I normally go on a bank's property is to get money from their ATM's outside the bank.

My 83 year old mom still goes inside the bank and writes a check to get money. Sometimes she'll send my 87 year old dad and write down how many ones, fives, 10's etc. she wants. Don't think either one ever uses an ATM, or have debit cards. Kind of surprising, because they both have laptops and I-pads, are pretty computer literate. and shop on Amazon.

Every Friday.

I have a business to run and many people chose to pay in cash.

I have to go to the bank and deposit 40% of that cash every Friday.

Kidding. I deposit 100% of the cash.

Last week becasue my bank card was compromised and some yahoo was buying mountain dews and nikes all over Phoenix metro.

Can't figure out it was a crypto exchange or dick juice website or ghetto gas station card skimmer.

Saw 3 fine arse bubble butt Latinas in the bank though.

It's got to be close to 10 years. I think that the last time that I went in was to cash in old savings bonds.
