When did you buy your first house and how much did it cost?

With all the affordability discussions that appear on this board, I thought it would be an interesting topic.
Purchased - 1992
House built - 1963
Size - 3/2/2 (probably about 1600 sf)
Cost - $63,000

Believe that would be about $150k in 2026 dollars according to https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/
Avg interest rates were about 8.4.
OP, go look up that house from 1992. See how much it goes for now.

It was about 1 1/2 years of salary as an engineer almost three years out of school. I don’t know what young plant engineers make today, but the same ratio might not be far off.

Covered Carport with a smallish yard.
Paid $45K
Loved that place. I was single. Had easy access to both NOLA, BTR and I12 to get to MS where I worked 50% of the time.
