My dog doesn't like going places and I don't like bringing him places so it works out for everybody.

This is a large part of the problem. We went to a Christmas party 2 weeks ago and there was an old guy walking around with some little drop-kick dog, letting the dog climb all over the people, who mostly enjoyed the company. Well, my kid is allergic to most dogs and we didn't want to take the chance so we walked away. Old dude couldn't take a hint and kept coming around my kid until I had to politely tell him to keep the mutt away from us.
I also shop at the Rouse's downtown where there seems to be a large contingent of people that have little dogs that can't be left alone for 5 minutes. There's open food bars and other health hazards that having mangy dogs around would have the Dept. of Health considering violations. Plus, I would rather not use a grocery cart that was just had a dog's gross arse sitting in it.

I'm in the:
Nice resturant bar no dogs.
Dive bar / bar and grill / outside bar and grill is fine.
Fast food resturants no pets.
Grocery store no pets.
Home depot I don't really care.
***Unless it's a Pit Bull or a-hole dog, then it's a hard no to all.

Just start throwing random foot onto their table for the dog.

Target is my least favorite place to shop, but they had something my wife needed. I dare not send her to Target unattended, it's a fast track to poverty.

Trying to reason with a dog owner is a lot like trying to reason with a liberal, it just doesn't come naturally to them.
Last April we were visiting friends in Houston, they picked out a TexMex place for lunch, it had a patio and the weather was beautiful, so we sat outside. They had a couple of dogs there, didn't care, until the bigger dog decided the little dog was some sort of enchilada. Load growling, barking and snarling happens, and that's the owners At one-point, big dog was trotting around proudly with little dog in its mouth.
Of course, dog owners are screaming at each other, tables and chairs getting knocked over, in general, funny as hell mayhem. We didn't pay for a floor show, but it was a lot better than roaming mariachi bands. In the end, both owners and dogs are ejected (golf clap), and our margies are comped (big golf clap).
As someone wrote earlier, go to Paris, everyone has a dog with them and everyone smokes, didn't see any dogs smoking, yet.

I can’t stand pits, most mutts, and little dogs… and you see way more of them in public

When did we as a society start allowing this happen?
It’s the people so emotional fragile AND bad with humans, that need dogs to feel loved - cuz dogs ain’t picky (see the a-hole licking reference above).
These sad people are the ones that need their dogs as emotional companions wherever they go.
Thank God for dogs that can reliably do the emotional maintenance that humans can’t.

If it’s a patio bar style deal where you’re outside and it’s generally accepted that a dog will be there, that’s one thing.
Here's my 2¢... Everyone crying about pet dander and what not are perfectly ok eating outside on a patio where there are 100x the germs and airborne particles and whatnot floating over their food or beverages but the second a dog comes indoors they freek out. It's just silly and illogical. My opinion is that if a dog is well behaved I have no problem with people bringing it into a store or restaurant. Id rather be in a restaurant with a dozen well behaved dogs than one obnoxious human.

I don’t believe in a lot of regulation, but I’d be fine if emotional support animals were regulated out of existence
The problem with "Emotional Support" animals is any idiot who thinks of their dog or other pet as their "fur baby" can pretty much make that claim and get away with it because, you know-------discrimination.........
Oh, and as far as animals where I eat and drink, if you, as a grown adult, can't stand to be away from your 4 legged flea bag, stay the frick home with it.

A lot of establishments are pushing back now. Publix around here started posting signs that only accredited service animals are allowed. Pretty sure it's illegal in most states for places like restaurants and grocery stores but nobody has been enforcing it.

God this board is full of miserable fricking people. Bet yall like cats.
I don't bring my dogs anywhere, unless its to the pet store or if we go camping. But it bothers me not at all to see a dog in public.
There are probably rats in every restaurant around but yall worried about a dog.

I have a friend who insists on bringing her dog when she goes shopping. I find it odd but the dog is well behaved and no one has ever told her anything.

The first I saw this I was in Boulder in the late 1980’s. I thought what are these hippies trying to prove.

Much as I love my border collies I don’t think animals belong wherever food is present. And hot take, most of your so called “therapy dogs” are bogus bullshite. I literally don’t care where you bring your alpaca, monitor lizard, great horned owl, etc except where my food is.
