You still have to go inside to get a cashier’s check or money order. They don’t let you do that at the drive thru. At least where I bank.

They are closing in areas where there are multiple branches and overlap. The only reason I step foot insude a bank is bc I work in one. This is not the 1930s!

I believe they are also closing in locations where they have a difficult time protecting their employees from coughing customers. Whitney is an older style bank and has more susceptible teller lines.

I'm a little surprised that Hancock is doing this. They're notorious dickheads when it comes to this kind of stuff, with their "Last to Close, First to Open" philosophy.

I remember sitting at my desk in a bank branch with no electricity after a hurricane, and the cops coming by and saying "No electricity means no alarms, no cameras, and no phones. What will you do if you get robbed?"

We could only shrug our shoulders.

Owlie’s going to miss what he calls the “eye candy” when they close his Capital One Cáfe:

The fact that cash transactions are still being allowed is laughable. Seems like that would have been the first thing to be stopped

Yeah it is. Banks can operate via a drive thru window if you need one.

That’s the Leo Sr & Jr legacy of barely making it through the Great Depression and weathering hurricanes.

Never closed more than two calendar days in a row.

I have direct pay and an app on my phone. As long as they are open enough to allow those transactions to happen I am good.

Yup. Before the merger with Whitney, I was at a meeting, and some upper management lady who had never lived through a hurricane in her life was praising the Gulfport area managers during Katrina "The cops had to go to those branches and drag the managers away from their desks. That's how dedicated they were to our Last to Close, First to Open policy."

I was thinking "First, that never happened. Second, only some dumb broad who never experienced Katrina first hand would think that's a great idea."

The bank isn’t insolvent, it’s protecting its workers.

I might go to my bank in person once a year. Nothing will change for me unless something happens with my plastic, then I would have to go in, maybe.

They will if the inside is shutdown. I got a cashier's check through the drive through this morning.

Iberia is drive through only unless you call for appointment for inside for safety deposit boxes.
