I was maybe the only weirdo kid who hated pb&j. I haven't had one since I was around 7 when my mom stopped forcing me, actually.

Fun fact, mayo only needs to be refrigerated if it gets contaminated from other food sources. I keep it in the fridge.

Starting in 10th grade you were allowed to leave school grounds for lunch, so we'd walk across the street to a Huck's gas station that had a small Deli counter and grab a sandwich.
Before that it seems like I would bring pizza rolls or something similar to microwave.

Man do I miss it, in high school I could get a chicken patty sandwich curly fries cup of cheese ( the big cup lunch lady always hooked me up) and a Sunkist for under $2... I was on the reduced lunch program so it was 40¢ for the lunch and 60¢ for cheese 80¢ for the Sunkist... graduated in 02
Plus at auto tech the second half of the day this Domino’s car would stop by and sell us medium pizzas,not hot but warm for 2$
