50% up to 4%, which isn’t great, but it’s better than nothing. My wife gets 80% up to 5%.

Dollar for dollar upto 4% and then they put 8% in at the end of the year as a bonus.
So in the end if I put in 4%, they will out in 12%. It's why I chose this plant over others.

Just like people who say put 20% down on a house payment when interest rates are super low.
That is true, but for many of us, we can not qualify for Roth's and many other things due to income levels so it's either 401k or IRA as primary. Always great how as a country we punish those that are successful, but not ultra successful and reward those that are complete failures.
Would seem to me as a country we would want everyone to do a Roth, so they pay the taxes now and save for retirement instead of living on the government.

35 years of maxed out 401k contributions comes out to over 2 million by the time you’re at retirement age. That’s better than 99% of people. That’s also assuming no match.
What would you do instead?

100% match for up to 6% I put in. They add an extra 1%, so it's 100% match for 7%, I only put in 6%.
Up 21.9% YTD...thanks OMB!

$0.50 for every dollar on the first 5% of our contribution.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 10:28 am to Eli Goldfinger
5% free upfront, another 3% tit for tat.

100% for the first 1%, then 50% for the next 5%; so 3.5% total.
There is also a pension for employees with my age/years of service and up. The younger/newer ones who missed the pension cut-off get an extra 3% of 401K match. The extra match can be a better deal because of portability.

100% on the first 3%
50% on the next 2%
Fully vested after 3 years
Max dollar contribution is $19k per year

This may be the worst advice I've ever seen on the OT and that's saying something. Don't save your money for retirement, because you might get hit by a bus tomorrow!
Contrast that with one of my older coworkers. His favorite thing to say is, "If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."
I put 20% in my 401K and my employer matches up to 5%. I also max my health savings plan. Nice having two tax free savings plans.

Starts at 7% up to 10%, matching 100%

5%- If you max contribute. Higher if you don't. It is a flat rate.
A full pension at 62. I am bailing at 58 with a 75% pension.

Matches the first 5% contributed (so if I put in 8% they match up to 5)
Plus an additional 2% of salary
