Interesting that St Louis became the big city, not strategically placed Cairo

I always wondered why Cairo didn't blossom back in the 19th century

I've read it flooded too much so the Indians founded a settlement at what is now St Louis, and whites took that over

St. Louis is located downriver from a navigation obstacle on the Mississippi River, the Chain of Rocks. Cities tended to form along navigation obstacles as people in boats are forced ashore to Portage or pickup a local river pilot. At Cairo there was no reason to stop.

I’m sure it’s been said a million times in this thread but add me to the Slidell column.

Coming back from a hunting trip last year, we stopped there for lunch. We went to the BBQ place, 4 of us ordered different things, we all got the same horrible food on a plate. The entire town was really bad.

Portland is better than any city in Louisiana. It's not some Antifa stronghold like the threads on here, even though they are funny sometimes.

Just like in Seattle, the disruption you see from Portland in the mainstream media is occurring in a 4 block area, while in the other 99.99% of the city life goes on unaffected.

Scrolled Through three pages and did not see one Bogalusa Louisiana listed. Even the people that live in Bogalusa know that Bogalusa is terrible.

Reserve is not that much better IMO

FYI- I know shitty towns. Grew up in Da East on Chef Hwy in NOLA

Good call on whoever said Yuma, AZ.

I’ll add in San Bernardino, CA too.

Hattiesburg, MS and Montgomery, AL also suck.
