Illinois is underrated in how awful it is, since basically people only visit Chicago. Trust me, driving the length of it north/south is a soul crushing experience.

It’s easily top 5 bad. But Kansas has to be #1.

MS, LA, and NE are the 3 with the lowest quality natural scenery of all the ones I've been to.

I've driven 57 many many many times. I still put i10 across Texas and i40 across Okie as worse experiences.

When I post pictures of Louisiana hikes, a common comment I get is "wow, it looks like Fallout out there".

Indiana. Plus some counties are dry which sucks as your trying to at least catch a buzz on your boring trip through the state.

Kansas by a long shot. I would love for someone to explain otherwise.

Eastern Oklahoma isn't bad but the western side of the state is terrible. I was stationed in Altus...one of the worst places I've been. Eastern Colorado and the entire state of Kansas is ugly and not very scenic.

Least visited doesn't mean it is ugly. North Dakota has a lot of beauty.

I'd be interested in where you were able to find beauty in ND.

That's tough - for a coastal city, I have to give props to Charleston. For a "state" - Tennessee and Virginia have a lot going for them in places, but Colorado probably takes the title. Almost the definition of "scenic."

It's no different, guy. 45N is awful. 35S leads to murderland central. I20 leads you back to I-10 or Shreveport and 35N sticks you into Oklahoma. Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma.

The largest state in the lower 48, and you’ve judged it based on some interstate driving. Do yourself a favor and go to Big Bend, tube the Frio or Guadalupe with an ice chest full of beer, hike up Enchanted Rock, see Palo Duro Canyon, check out South Padre.

I’m not saying it’s the most scenic, but if you can’t find SOMETHING scenic in a state that offers a little of everything, you are pretty lame.

Southern MS is very nice. For me, any state that doesn't have the Appalachians, Rockies, or an ocean might as well be Iraq. We should just force everyone off amd make it a nature preserve

Have an upvote. Illinois outside of Chicago will make a man yearn for death.
