North Dakota - where they have "miles and miles of miles and miles".
I believe this is the least visited state in the union.

Parts of Oklahoma are beautiful.
I would vote for Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Iowa. Louisiana and Mississippi aren't great either tbh. On the other side, you can't go wrong with any of the western states.

Southern Indiana, like along I-64, is pretty nice with the rolling hills, especially when it's not winter.

I think it has to be Kansas. Parts of Oklahoma are nice (Broken Bow). I'm not sure I can say the same for Kansas.

There's a 20 mile stretch just outside of San Antonio that is absolutely breathtaking, but the rest is ugly as sin.
i'd argue going from west to east, Franklin mountains around mile 15 are beautiful, Juarez is actually beautiful when lit up at night.... then ugly arse till you get to Balmorhea.... back to ugly from there till Junction, and the hill country is pretty right until you get to the west side of SA.
Then it's hideous for the rest of the drive till you pass Beaumont.
a much uglier drive is 35. i've driven every inch between Laredo and Gainesville. The scenic overlook before you get to OKC northbound is the prettiest thing i've seen on 35 and that's not saying much.

What I've seen of North Dakota was pretty ugly.
Prettiest state I've visited is Colorado, although I haven't been to California or the PNW, which I understand are quite spectacular.

Every state has a few things going for it.
So it is hard to say.
People thay have a definitive answer for an ugly state probably only went there on a road and have no idea what they are talking about.

Nebraska. Drove through it on the 80 and it was one of the least scenic and boring stretches I have ever driven.
